was announced, followed quickly
by a pledge of $50,000. Another
$100,000 was followed by ten
announcements of between $25,-
000 and $57,000 of individual
giving.
The pledges came so fast and
so spontaneously that Dan.Gar-

on a board as announced so peo

given moment, was unable to
keep up at one point because of
the large number of announce

simultaneously.
Each person in the room made
his announcement, which invari
ably topped what he had given
in the last campaign.
