Carrying with them the motto
imprinted on a silver medallion
presented to Women’s American
0RT by the director of ORT-Is-
fael at a meeting in Geneva that
“Massada shall never fail again,”
Atlanta delegates will leave on
September 24 for the 19th Bien
nial National Convention of
Women’s American ORT to be
held September 25-28 in Chicago.
They will be joined in delibera
tions by nearly 1,500 of their col
leagues representing 70,000 mem
bers in 550 chapters from coast
to coast.
Participating in the local dele
gation are the Mesdames Stan
ley Gerson, Raymon Franco, Ar
thur Solomon and Ned Franco
from the Peachtree Chapter and
Sidney Shier, Alan Gillman, Jack
Taffel, Jack Horowitz, Sam Gal-
anti, Dave Rothfarb, Khalil Iny,
and Jack Bressler (who has been
invited by the National Expansion
Committee) from the Atlanta
Chapter.
Presenting the major address
at the opening banquet will be
Supreme Court Justice Abe For-
tas. Diplomatic representatives
from the 22 nations in which ORT
conducts its operations will be
among the distinguished guests.
Governor Otto Kerner of Illinois
will greet the delegates.
Mrs. Gerson and Mrs. Shier,
presidents of their respective
chapters, said that the conven
tion “will aim at providing tre
mendous additional support for
the ORT-Israel network of 257
vocational installations, some of
which were shelled and bombed

Miss Terri Josephs, daughter
of Dr. ana Mrs. Alvin D. Josephs,
has just returned from Montreal,
where she attended the 63rd
Grand Convention of Phi Epsilon
Pi fraternity which was held at
the Queen Elizabeth Hotel Au
gust 30 through September 3.
Climaxing the many activities,
which included a tour of Expo 67,
was a formal dinner dance at
which Miss Josephs was crowned
International Dream Girl of the
lratemity, having been nominat
ed by the Xi Chapter at Georgia
Tech.
She graduated from Henry
Grady High School and is enter
ing the University of North Ca
rolina at Chapel Hill as a fresh
man.

Moore's Jacobi
Premiers At
Poeket Theatre
Eugene Moore, editorial writer
for the Atlanta Journal, has con
tributed his play “Jacobi” to be
produced by “The Red Clay
Players” as a benefit for the new
Georgia literary quarterly “The
Chattahoochee.”
“Jacolyi,” a tragic-comedy in
three acts about a Jewish fam
ily in a small South Georgia
town, was to open Sept. 14 at the
Pocket Theatre, 575 Courtland
Street, and will play Wednesday
through Saturday to September
30 with the exception of Septem
ber 29.
Mrs. Kit Riker, who acted as
assistant director several years
ago at Theatre Atlanta, has made
a special trip to Atlanta from
South Dakota to direct the show.
In the lead female and male roles
are Mrs. Doris (Joe) Blass and
Sid Shier, two well-known local
actors.

of a half hour radio program—
continues “on the air” for the
fourth straight year.
The radio show, entitled “The
Voice of Israel with Jewish Music
Time” is a program that includes
all kinds of Jewish music of the
past and present — as well as
stories and comments pertaining
to various topics.
This year Cantor Ungar has
obtained many new recordings
that were recently released from
Israel.
An added feature of the pro
gram will be a number of inter
views with many professionals of
our community, directly related
to modem Jewish life. Continu
ing on the program will be the
write-in requests, as well as the
Jewish Community Calendar,
which involves announcements
pertaining to on-going activities
of organizations throughout the
year.
