LETTERS
EDITORS
Dear Sir,
Enclosed find my check for one
year’s subscription to The Sou
thern Israelite. This will be the
eighth year (out of Atlanta) that
I’ve been living away from your
fair city.
Just returned from an interest
ing trip thru Spain, Portugal and
a week at Palma, Majorca. Beau
tiful country, to say the least.
While in Lisbon, my husband and
I went to visit the rabbi there.
He told us that there were only
250 Jewish families in Lisbon,
and a little over 600 families in
the whole of Portugal.
He said there was a Ipt of in
termarriage there, and he was
worried about the future of his
congregation, as so few Jewish
people settled there recently.
Thought the above might in
terest you. Enjoy getting your
weekly paper—it gets better every
year. Love hearing news of home.
Sincerely,
Hortense Richman
(formerly Mrs. Maurice Golson)
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour G. Sus-
