Mrs.
For
Zvi Kolitz, world renowned
author, journalist, motion picture

the guest speaker at a commun
ity-wide gala celebration being
held Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 8 p. m.
in the Progressive Club ball
room. The Atlanta Jewish com

Mr. Kolitz has a fascinating
background. He was bom to a
rabbinical family in Lithuania
whose famous seminaries he fre
quented prior to his going to
Italy, where he studied history and
philosophy at Florence University.
He interrupted these studies,
however, in response to a call
by a Zionist group to which he
had belonged, to take up naviga
tion in preparation for life n
Palestine.
Before World War II, Mr. Kolitz
went to Palestine where he soon
became prominent in its political
and literary life. Suspected of
membership in the Underground,
he was twice arrested by the
British. Yet, during the war, he
was chief recruiting officer in
Jerusalem. Soon after the war, in
1946, he was elected delegate to
the World Zionist Congress in
Basel, Switzerland.
Mr. Kolitz is the author of nu
merous articles, plays, stories and
essays in both Hebrew and Eng
lish. In recent years, he has been
active in the field of entertain
ment. He is the author and exe
cutive producer of Israel’s first
major motion picture “Hill 24
Doesn’t Answer”; he was co
producer on Broadway of the
Tony Award production “The
Deputy,” and is currently work
ing on a new Broadway produc
tion.
Mr. Kolitz has just returned
from Israel and will present a
timely discussion on recent devel
opments in that country. The
event ‘is being sponsored by the
Atlanta Jewish Welfare Federa
tion in recognition of Atlanta’s
magnificent achievement during
1967 in raising $2,600,000 for
Jewish needs at home and abroad.
The 1967 Campaign Leadership
will be specially honored at the
affair.
Reservations may be made by
contacting the Federation office
at 41 Exchange Place, S. E., or

in Atlanta, has been named gen

Fashion Show which will be pre

Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the Falcon
Ball Room of the Regency Hyatt
House.
Featuring originals and ready-

ateliers and manufacturers, the
glamorous event will point up Is
rael’s emergence on the world
scene as a center of feminine cou
ture. It will be sponsored by the
Atlanta Fashion Show Committee
for State of Israel Bonds.
