Abe Feinberg
Abe Feinberg, 91, of Colum
bus, Ga., died Sunday, Dec. 3.
Funeral services were held
December 4 with Rabbi Renov
officiating.
Mr. Feinberg was born in Po
land and had lived in Columbus
for 67 years. He was a retired
merchant and a member of
Sbeerith Israel 'Synagogue in
Columbus.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Esther Meyers of Colum
bus; six sons, Sam Feinberg,
Washington,. Lewis Feinberg,
Thomasville, Ga., Harry Feinberg,
Atlanta; Morris Feinberg, Mont
gomery; Israel Feinberg, Lewis
ton, Pa. and Bill Feinberg,
Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Jake
Feinberg, Columbus, grand
children and great-grandchil
dren.
Mrs. Irving Flaxman
Mrs. Goldy Flaxman, 61, of
Atlanta died Friday, Dec. 8.
Funeral services were held
December 10 with Rabbi Raphael
Gold and Cantor Robert Ungar
officiating. Interment was in
Crest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Flaxman was born in
New York City.
Survivors include her hus
band, Irving Flaxman; son, Shel
don Flaxman of Atlanta; daugh
ter, Mrs. Carolyn Van den Berg;
brother, Morris Katz; two sisters,
Mrs. Henrietta Gross, Miss Ethel
Katz, all of New York City;
three grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Nat Klausman
Mrs. Nat F. Klausman, 50, of
Atlanta died Wednesday, Dec. 6.
Funeral services were held
December 7 with Rabbi Jacob
Rothschild officiating. Inter
ment was in Crest Lawn
Memorial Park.
Mrs. Klausman, the former
Rosalind Simmons, was born in
Atlanta and attended Girls High
School and Margery Webster
College in Washington.
Mrs. Klausman was very active
in civic and cultural organiza
tions and a noted sports-woman.
She was director of riding at
Sky Lake Camps in Sautee, Ga.,
from 1950 to il966 and also in
structor of riding at Fritz On-
Camp and Westminster School for
many years.
She was a member of the
Temple Sisterhood and the Na
tional Council of Jewish Women.
Survivors include her husband;
daughters, Mrs. Natalie Young
of New Orleans and Mrs. Barbara
Parker of Africa; a son, Henry
M. Klausman; her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Henry C. Simmons,
and a sister, Mrs. Charles I.
Lewis, all of Atlanta.
Allan I. Novak
Allan Irwin Novak, 26, of
Atlanta died Saturday, Dec. 9,
in an automobile accident in
Tennessee.
Funeral services were held
December 11 with Rabbi Raphael
Gold and Cantor Isaac Good-
friend officiating. Interment
was in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Novak was a senior law
student at the University of
Tennessee.
Survivors include his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Novak of
Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Larry
D. Spielberger and Mrs. Michael
Gold, both of Atlanta; and a
grandmother, Mrs. Sam Novak of
Tel Aviv, Israel.
Mrs. Weingarten
Mrs. Sara Weingarten, 87, of
Atlanta died Saturday, Dec. 9.
Funeral services were held De
cember 11 in Brooklyn, N. Y.
with interment in Mt. Lebanon
Cemetery, Queens, N. Y.
A resident of Atlanta for three
years, she was the widow of
Julius A. Weingarten. Mrs.
Weingarten was a native of
Russia.
Survivors include a daughter,
Mrs. Louis Spanier, Atlanta, and
two sisters, Mrs. Lena Toback
and Mrs. Sara Tabnik, both of
Brooklyn, N. Y.
Morris Cohen
Morris Cohen, 80, of Atlanta,
founder and chairman of the
board of Central Metals Co., died
Monday, Dec. 11.
Funeral services were held De
cember 12 with Rabbi Harry H.
Epstein and Cantor Isaac Good-
friend officiating. Interment was
in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Cohen, who was bom in
Russia, came to the United States
in 1906 and to Atlanta in 1917.
He was a member of Ahavath
Achim Synagogue, B’nai B’rith,
the Progressive Club and Atlan
ta Lodge No. 59, F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Sadye Rodbell; two sons,
Gerald and Bernard Cohen, and
two daughters, Mrs. Leon C.
Goldstein and Mrs. Alvin Miller,
all of Atlanta, and a sister, Mrs.
Morris Medder, Toronto, Can.
Harry Knox
Harry Knox, 57, of Atlanta
died Saturday, Dec. 10.
Funeral services were held
December 11 with Rabbi Joseph
Cohen and Rabbi Norman Berlat
officiating. Interment was in
Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Knox was a member of
Or VeShalom congregation. He
had been an insurance agent in
Atlanta for 13 years and was
born in Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, a
daughter, Miss Carolyn Knox of
Atlanta; four sisters, Mrs.
Morris Merlin, Atlanta; Mrs.
Sam Greenberg, Titusville, Fla.;
Mrs. Herman Seplin of Blairs-
ville, Ga., and Mrs. Frank Roth-
berg, Washington.
Herbert Z. Sokol
Herbert Z. Sokol, 37, of
Atlanta died Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Graveside services were held
December 7 at Westview Ceme
tery with Rabbi Emanuel Feld
man officiating.
Mr. Sokol was president and
technical director of General
Kinetics in Atlanta. He was
born in Hartford, Conn., and
held membership in the Ameri
can Institute of Chemical Engi
neers.
Survivors include his wife, the
former Esther Roberts; a daugh
ter, Cynthia Jeanette; sons, Todd
Sherman and Bruce David
Sokol, and his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. David L. Sokol, all of At
lanta and sisters, Mrs. Earl
Horowitz, Hartford, and Mrs.
Doba Mendelson, Palm Beach,
Fla.
Mrs. Sidney Weinstein
Mrs. Sidney Weinstein, 78, of
Mount Vernon, N.Y., died Sat
urday, Dec. 2. She was the
mother of Bert Weston of At
lanta.
Funeral services were held
December 4 in Valhalla, N. Y.
Other survivors include her
husband, Sidney Weinstein, and
daughters, Mrs. Louis Tulley,
Beechhurst, N.Y., and Mrs. Mil-
ton Rubin, Mount Vernon.

Ted Hirsch, director of devel
opment and special assistant to
the president of West Georgia
College, has been elected presi
dent of the Carrollton Chamber
of Commerce for 1968.
Felton Denney, Pete Russell
and David Tisdnger were named
vice presidents; Frank Searcy,
treasurer, and Major M. C. Wiley,
executive director.
Mr. Hirsch, who is serving his
third term on the Carrollton City
Council, Is a long-time Carrollton
industrialist and businessman and
has held numerous civic leader
ship positions.
New members of the board of
directors include Mr. Hirsch, Mr.
Searcy, Henry Burson, J. C. Dan-
iell, J. Ebb Duncan and William
Hamrick.

Senior Friendship Club con
tinues to attract new visitors to
the Sunshine City resulting in an
increase in membership this sea
son surpassing the registered
membership of 1966-1967 period
by a substantial figure. Mis gov
erning Board looks forward to
still a greater increase in the
months to come, due to the fact
that a great many retirees have
selected the West coast for per
manent residence. Among the
new members registered recently

The month of December will
be a very busy one for the mem
bers of SF Club for on Decem
ber 21, the National Council of
Jewish Women will present its
Annual Hanuka Party in the
Jewish Community Center, with
a specially served Luncheon,
starting at 12:30 p. m. and this
will be followed by a stag pro
duction, in which the members
of the NCJW will take part. On
December 28, twenty-four mem
bers will be given VIP treat
ment because they have grown
one year older. Among those
being honored are Lena Cooper-
man, Abraham Ginsberg, Caro
line Lowenstein, Anna Loher,
Gittrtel Lourie, Jennie Tinkle, Bar-

in the Jewish Community Cen

Sayde Routman is off to Chica
go to attend the wedding of her
granddaughter in that city on
February 7.
Pauline Zirinsky was rushed to
Palms of Pasadena Hospital in
an emergency, suffering from ex
ceptionally high blctod pressure.
She will be hospitalized for the
next month or two.

Karsman is a graduate of the
Universty of Georgia. He is a
member of the executive council
of the Younger Lawyers Section,
of the State Bar of Georgia and
is captain of the Quarterback
Club of Savannah. He has served
as a director of the Jewish Edu
cation Alliance.
