Aids Bazaar
On December 10, The Beth
Jacob chapter of NCSY helped
produce theA annual Hanuka
Bazaar. The 'Yquth Group con
ducted the games’' and booths in
the Educational Building and
sold tickets to the guests in the
main building of the synagogue.
Tickets, in blocks of six, had a
heavy sale.
The booths and games were
built by the Youth Group mem
bers. Among them were a “Go
Fishing” booth, bean bag toss,
ring toss and markmanship booth
(with water guns replacing pis
tols). A continuous program of
animated sound cartoons held
the youngest children’s attention
so that the parents could par
ticipate in the games and shop
ping. The Sisterhood, sponsors
of the Bazaar, gave the NCSY
the hat-check concession and
pop-corn and lollipop monopoly.
All items offered for sale were
bought by or donated to the
Sisterhood by merchants and
friends in Atlanta. Food was
prepared in the Beth Jacob Syn
agogue kitchens by the members
of the Sisterhood. The menu
was typical of Hanuka (latkes,
etc.) plus hot dogs, chicken,
cakes and drinks.
Bruce Beck was over-all
chairman of the Bazaar. Booths
were built by the members un
der the direction of Mike Cenker,
The hard-working committee
members were Gary Kempler,
Harold Schroeder, Estelle Russ,
Bobbi Lipsius, Sherry Weissman
and Rhoda Gerson.

BBG-Adina
Hanuka Party
Adina is BBG’s newest chapter
in Atlanta. It consists of 30
ninth grade girls from various
schools in the Atlanta area. The
president is Debbie Katz, who is
supervised by Selma Singer
former advisor of Anne Frank
Chapter.
For Thanksgiving, ADINA col
lected canned foods and old
clothes which were given to a
needy family. We are planning
a Hanuka party, the purpose of
which is to start another project.
Joan Gerson, project vice-presi
dent, along with Debbie Katz, is
planning more of these worth
while activities.
We had nine members repre
senting us at LTI (Leadership
and Training Institute). Lynn
Ross, our convention vice presi
dent, won the handicraft con
test at Council run-offs. We are
expecting to have six of our
members at the Regional Con

Holiday Bows
DOT is “wrapping-iip” its
present fund-raising project by
selling package bows. The re
tarded children of Hi-Hope
School Sheltered Workshop,
Lawrenceville, made them. The
girls are selling a package of
twenty-five bows of assorted
colors or blue-white bows for
$1.25. Persons interested in
buying some, may contact Ellen
Gershon, 355-8636, or any mem

The girls have planned an
Oneg Shabbat for the Woodward
Academy boys. The girls will
perform a religious service fol

The chapter is back at work

In conclusion, the members
feel that this is their greatest
hour, and that with their excel

greatest BBG chapters in history.

Operation
Understanding
Monday, Dec. 4,’ the Jewish
Youth in Atlanta was represent
ed at a meeting of “Operation
Understanding.” This is an or
ganization to conquer obstacles
in relationships between races
and religions. The first meeting
was held to set up a core far an
unlimited membership organi
zation.
The four representatives from
the Center, Mike Cenker, Bobbi
Lipsius, Larry Miller and Sheryl
Nerenbaum urge all Jewish
Youth to pay close attention to
the growth of “Operation Under
standing.” In a few short weeks
all Jewish Youth, ages 14 to 19,
will be invited to attend the
meetings and reap the benefits
of a truly great club, one with
a worthy goal.
Emes-B’libo
Jello, spaghetti, and cake was
the most well-earned meal of the
Ernes - B’libo chapter, having
completed their .training. Eigh
teen proud girls and their advisor
began their progressive dinner on
December 9, at 6:00. The homes
of three members were used and
at the last residence, a program
worthy of Broadway was present
ed.
The newly elected officers were
installed by Larry Cuba, region
al co-ordinator for regional con
vention. The officers installed
were as fallows: Lemare Bohm,
president; Julia Rosenfeld, vice
president; Sheryl Silvenstein, sec
retary; Barbara Gay, treasurer;
and Sharon Galambos, corres
ponding secretary.
It was truly a memorable oc

BBG-SABRA
BBG — Sabra has been an
active chapter during the past
few months. The new year be
gan by installing the 1967-1968
officers. Mrs. Arnold Zimmer
man performed the ceremony on
September 24.
President, Sarah Kraft; vice
president, Bonnie Carl; record
ing secretary, Judy Birnbrey;
corresponding secretary, Roberta
Jackel; treasurer, Toni Miller;
reporter historian, Sandra Bau
man.
The officers are presiding very
successfully and it seems the
rest of the year holds a great
deal in store.
As many of the girls in the
chapter had never attended ser
vices at an Orthodox synagogue,
the first chapter activity of the
new year was to attend services
at Beth Jacob Synagogue. At the
Oneg Shabbat, which followed,
a discussion of the three move
ments of Judaism took place.
The Oneg Shabbat proved inter
esting and stimulating.
On November 4, the Chapter
held its annual spend-the-night
party, which as always was a
tremendous success! To repre
sent Sabra in the Mr. and Miss
A&C Contest held during the
Council Dance, the members
chose Barry Zipperman. Par
ticipating as Sabra’s contestant
in a Little Miss BBG Contest is
Jan Dorfman.
The girls have started making
plans for chapter fund-raising,
and think it’s going to come off
great!!! They have also begun
working on an upcoming charity
fund-raising which will be cxf
great interest to all BBYO, not
just BBG-SABRA.

Three-City
Judaeans
Have A Blast
On Sunday, Dec. 3, two months
of preparation came to a fruitful
and explosive end. One hundred
fifty Young Judaeans from At
lanta, Columbus and Chatta
nooga came to the Atlanta Jew
ish Community Center for a full
afternoon of fun, contests and
learning.
The different clubs competed
in Hebrew singing, Israeli danc
ing and a big “College Bowl”
type quiz. By their presenta
tions they certainly showed that
they had prepared well before
hand.
It was a pleasure to see young
Jewish youth participating with
knowledge in the College Bowl
quiz, which was on Jewish sub
jects like the Bible, the history
of Jews in the world and in
Israel, the geography of Israel,
etc.
The rally was sponsored by the
Atlanta Young Judaea Youth
Commission.
The program was created and
run by Shaul Lilach, Shaliach to
Southern Region Young Judaea,
and Frank Farbenbloom, re
