Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Franco of
Atlanta announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Marilyn
Renee, to Alan Cristal, son at
Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Cristal
of Atlanta.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mil-
ton Waronker of Atlanta and
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Liudner
of New York.
Alan is the grandson of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Tara-
toot and Mrs. Clara Cristal and
the late Benjamin Cristal.
The wedding will be held
February 16 at the Progressive
Club.
Friedman-Weber
Mr. and Mrs. Sol Friedman of
Aiken, S. C., announce the mar
riage of their daughter, Barbara
Susan, to William Weber, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Weber
of Atlanta, on September 1, at
the Adath Yeshuran Synagogue
in Augusta. Rabbi Maynard
Hyman officiated.
The bride is the granddaugh
ter of Mrs. Rose Getskin and
the late Abraham Getskin and
Mrs. Pauline Friedman and the
late Isadore Friedman, all of
Miami Beach.
The bridegroom is the grand
son of Mrs. Tillie Shaff and the
late Louis Shaff of Miami and
the late Mr. and Mrs. William
Weber of Tampa.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. Her atten
dants were Miss Adele Maer-
eden, Atlanta, maid of honor;
Miss Sue Beall and Mrs. M.
Rosen of Atlanta, bridesmaids.
Mark Weber attended his
brother as best man. Groomsmen
were Cary Friedman, brother
of the bride, Aiken; David Kap
lan, cousin of the bridegroom,
Miami, and Michael Rosen of
Atlanta.
A seated dinner followed the
ceremony at the Augusta Town
House Motel.
Mrs. Weber attended the Uni
versity of South Carolina and
is associated with Ellman’s of
Atlanta. The bridegroom attend
ed the University of Georgia
and is associated with Pitney
Bowes. After a wedding trip to
Miami Beach the newlyweds
will reside in Atlanta.

Katz-Doobrow
Susan Rase Katz, daughter of
Mrs. Herbert Katz of Green
ville, S. C., and the late Mr.
Katz, became the bride of Sid
ney Doobrow, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Louie Doobrow of Charles
ton, S. C., September 8 at the
Beth Israel Synagogue in
Greenville. Rabbi David Korb
officiated.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her brother, Alvin W.
Katz of Atlanta. Mrs. Alvin Katz
was matron of honor and Sheila
Doobrow of Atlanta, sister of
the bridegroom, was maid of
honor. Bridal attendants were
Mrs. Sanford Karesh of Atlan
ta and Mrs. Howard Satisky
of Chapel Hill, N. C., cousins of
the bride.
Mr. Doobrow was his son’s
best man and groomsmen were
Gilbert Rothstein, cousin of the
bride; Phillip Goldberg of
Charleston, and Joel Doobrow,
brother of the bridegroom.
A wedding luncheon was
given by the bride’s mother at
the synagogue. Mr. and Mrs.
Doobrow will live in Atlanta.
Klepak-Gurin
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Klepak
of Atlanta announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Renee
Judith Klepak, to Dr. Ronald
Bert Gurin, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Julius Gurin of Atlanta.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mrs. Israel Green
and the late Mr. Green and the
late Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Kle
pak of Dallas.
Miss Klepak attended North
Texas State University.
Dr. Gurin is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Siegel and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Gurin.
The future bridegroom at
tended Oglethorpe College and
received his B.S. and doctor of
optometry degrees from the
Southern College of Optometry
in Memphis. He is a member
of Phi Theta Upsilon and served
with the U. S. Air Force at
Luke AFB Hospital, Phoenix.
The wedding will be held
Janurary 26 at the Ahavath
Achim Synagogue.
Siegel-Sommers
Lucia Ellen Siegel, daughter
of Dr. and Mrs. John Siegel of
Allentown, Pa., became the
bride of Dr. Peter Stephen
Sommers, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Sommers of Atlanta
September 7 at the Temple
Beth El in Allentown. Rabbi
William Greenburg officiated.
The bride attended Wheaton
College, Norton, Mass., and was
graduated from the University
of Pennsylvania, where she was
elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She
is completing her work on her
master’s degree in social work
at Bryn Mawr College.
Dr. Sommers was graduated
from Tulane University and
participated in the Tulane-
Newcomb Junior Year Abroad
program at the Sorbonne, Uni
versity of Paris. He received
his M.D. degree from the Med
ical College of Georgia and is
now a resident physician on the
staff of the Children’s Hospital
in Philadelphia.
Young Judaeans
To Meet Sept. 29
The first session of Young
Judaeans will be held from 3
to 5 p. m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center. Sam Fisher, Southeas
tern Region youth director, and
Shaul Lila will take part in
the program.
Interested youngster from 9
to 16 are invited to attend. Ad

The bride-elect attended Ohio
State University and was grad
uated magna cum laude from
Oglethorpe College. She is pres
ently employed by the DeKalb
County Board of Education.
The future bridegroom at

and Georgia Institute of Tech
nology, whre he was a member
of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity.
He is now serving with the arm
ed forces in Vietnam.
Miss Saul is the granddaugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Gersh-
onowitz, formerly of New Jer
sey, and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph J. Saul.
Mr. Schwartz is the grand
son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rab-
inowitz, of Charleston, and Mrs.
Max Schwartz, of Los Angeles,
and the late Mr. Schwartz.
A spring wedding is planned.
Miirachi Women
Open Season
The Atlanta Chapter of Miz-
rachi Women held its opening
luncheon on September 18 at
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Tribute was paid to one of
the organization’s past presi
dents, Mrs. Bennie (Sylvia)
Auerbach, who passed away this
summer. Charles Freedman was
presented with a desk plaque
for a memorial given in mem
ory of his wife, Zahl.
New members were guests of
the chapter at the meeting and
films were shown to acquaint
them with the work of Miz-
rachi.
Mrs. Harry Robkin, a dele
gate from the national office to
the 43rd annual convention held
this month in New York, re
ported on convention highlights.
Mrs. David Warman, presi
dent, requested that each mem
ber participate in the member
ship drive.

Mr. Abram at a pre-inaugural
dinner to be held at 6:30 p. m.
Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Stan

Thanksgiving project. The event
will be on November 10 at the
Art Theatre, Mrs. Maloolm Estroff

Adas Yeshuran Synagogue will
hold Children’s Sukkos parties on
Monday and Tuesday mornings,
Oct. 7 and 8 at the conclusion of
Sukkos worship. Adult Sukkos
parties will be held the same days
after services.

named one of the chairmen of the
newly organized Southeast Mohe-
