Noah Langdale Jr., president of
Georgia State College, will be the
speaker at the February 23 Com
mander’s Banquet of Atlanta Post
112, Jewish War Veterans.
Mr. Langdale is one of the
oountry’s most popular after-
dinner speakers because of his
dramatic style. He is the succes
sor to Georgia State’s pioneering
president, George Sparks, and
has led the college on to even
greater academic excellence, en
rollment and physical expansion.
Outgoing Post Commander Ar
nold Gross will be honored for
his dedication and untiring lead
ership of the post during the past
year.

Telethon Theme
“ORT Wants YOU” is the slo
gan ORT members in Atlanta are
quoting. On February 23, from
10-3:00 they will be holding an
ORT Bay Telethon, campaigning
for new members. The telethon
will be held at Goodbody & Co.,
Lenox Towers.
Women’s American ORT (Or
ganization for Rehabilita t i o n
through Training) is the world’s
largest voluntary academic and
vocational training agency of the
Jewish people, dedicated to the
rebuilding of lives by teaching
them skills and rekindling the
human spirit and dignity.

SPAP Sounds
Call To Dinner
On Saturday, Feb. 22, SPAP
will pick up the tab for a dinner
honoring its paid-up members.

Arts Alliance
Now Has Popular
Theater Group
A new theatre company, the
Alliance Resident Theatre, has
been formed as the newest com
ponent of the Atlanta. Arts Al
liance. The company is expected
to fill the void left by the re-
oent closing of the Atlanta Mu
nicipal Theatre. Michael Howard,
artistic director of the AMT, has
been retained in the same ca
pacity for the new group.
In making the announcement,
Mr. Howard said that rehearsals
are in progress for a season to
open March 12 and run through
May 21. He added, “We have
chosen four of the most magni
ficent plays in the literature of
the theater: three comedies and
one drama.
The plays are “You Can’t Take
it With You” by Kaufman and
Hart, “Twelfth Night” by Shakes
peare, “The Little Foxes” by
Lillian Heilman and G. B.
Shaw’s “Major Barbara.”

ing greater participation.
Mr. Howard also announced a
two-week $50,000 fund raising
campaign sponsored by the Alli
ance Resident Theatre’s women’s
guild. It is hoped that wide com
munity support, small donations
as well as large, will be forth
coming to fulfill this goal.

Education Day
Of Hadassah
Set in Atlanta
Reservations are still being
taken for the Education Day pro
gram of the Atlanta Chapter of
Hadassah, set for Tuesday, Feb.
25, at the Shearith Israel Syn
agogue.
In keeping with the theme, “A
Better Tomorrow—Are You With
It?,” Rabbi' Simon Glustrom,
well-known author and lecturer
and former Atlantan, will speak
on “There is a Tomorrow.”
Members of the Ruth Mitchell
Dance Company will appear in
an original play written by Mrs.
M. Cohen.
Daytime groups will meet at
10:45 a. m. and brunch will be

Dr. Teplis Leads
Heart Fund Drive
Dr. Paul Teplis, along with
David P. Mills Sr. and Harold
M. Walker, is serving as general
co-chairman of the 1969 Metro
politan Atlanta Heart Fund Drive
taking place in February.
The drive, conducted by the
Georgia Heart Assn., runs
through February 28, to gain sup
port for continued research, pub
lic and professional education and
community service programs.
