Traffic Safety
Program Mar. 9
On Sunday, Mar. 9, there will
be a driver safety program spon
sored by the Greater Atlanta
Traffic and Safety Council. This
program, to be presented by the
Lions of Judea-Aleph Zadik
Aleph, will consist of a short
talk, a driver’s test, and the film
“Signal 30.”
Starting at 1:00 p. m. and last-
ting until 5:00 p. m., there will
be five one-hour sessions held
at the Atlanta Jewish Commun
ity Center.

ted with an album depicting
their courtship at the University
of Alabama, their life in Ocilla,
Ga., where they lived for 15
years, on through their current
life together with their daug-
ters, Janet and Rhonda at their
home on high Haven Court.

Synagogue Council Gets Ford
Grant for Dialogue on Pension
NEW YORK (JTA) — The
Ford Foundation has granted
$54,500 to the Synagogue Council
of America for a program that
will bring Negro and Jewish
clergymen together to discuss re
ligious and racial tensions in
New York City. The program
will be sponsored jointly by the
Synagogue Council, which is the
representative body of Conserva
tive Reform and Orthodox rabbis
and synagogue organization and
the Inter-Faith Citywide Coordi
nating Committee Against Pov
erty, an organization of black
and white clergymen involved in
anti-poverty and community ac
tion programs.
According to Rabbi Jacob P.
Rudin, president of the Syna
gogue Council, the program is
the outgrowth of a Dec. 5 meet
ing at which 250 rabbis and
Negro clergymen met to discuss

of last fall’s New York City
teachers’ strike. The strike pit
ted the predominantly Jewish
United Federation of Teachers
against the largely Negro Ocean
Hill - Brownsville experimental
school district.
McGeorge Bundy, president of
the Ford Foundation, described
the Synagogue Council’s pro
gram as “both constructive and
encouraging” and said that the

it as we have a number of other
