All we need do to double our capacity again will be to add bedrooms.” Special memorials are avail able, said Garson, for those who wish to honor members of their families. THE VICE MAYOR’S JOB ISN’T JUST TO PINCH HIT FOR HIS HONOR! The Vice Mayor does a lot more than stand in for the mayor when his honor has to be two places at once. And even though the Vice Mayor is just a heartbeat away from mayorship of over 500,000 people, there’s more to the job than that. Atlanta’s city charter says that the governing body of our town is the Board of Aldermen. That’s where the crucial decisions that effect the lives of every Atlantan are made. And guess who’s the President of the Board of Aldermen. The Vice Mayor, that’s who. To preside over this body of 18 independent-minded men takes skill, diplomacy and experience. Milton Farris has all those qualities in abundance. He’s got something else, too. The respect of the Aldermen. And that’s mighty important when you figure that the Vice Mayor’s chief tool is his ability to persuade. Milton Farris has spent 18 years being one of the best Aldermen any city ever had. He’s served on almost every Aldermanic committee . . . been Chairman of all the im portant ones. He’s helped build one of the nation’s greatest library systems . . . worked for fairer taxation . . . traffic improvements . . . better services . . . and forward-looking planning. He negotiated the successful end of the firemen’s and sanitation workers strikes. The Vice Mayor’s job is no place for on the job training. It’s no token post. The job’s important. So is your vote. Vote for Milton Farris for Vice Mayor.
