Mr Stoltz is the grandson of
Mrs. Irene Stoltz and the late
Morris Stoltz and Max Shufler
of Miami, formerly of Scranton,
Pa., and the late Mrs. Sarah
Shufler.
He attends Massachusetts In
stitute of Technology, where he
will receive a master’s degree in
metallurgical engineering in 1971
and is a member of Tau Beta
Pi.

The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Casper Rapkin of
New York, N. Y., and the
late Mrs Rapkin, and Sam
Hyman of Ndjberty, N. Y, and
the late MrsTrfyman, and the
great-granddaughter of Mrs.
Joseph Kirman.
Miss Hyman attended the Uni
versity of Florida, where she
was a member of Delta Phi Ep
silon. She now attends Georgia
State University.
Mr. Freedman is the grandson
of Mrs. Charles t, Swimmer of
Newark, N. J., and the late Mr.
Freedman. He now attends Em
ory University where he was a
member of Alpha Epsilon Pi. Mr:
Freedman will enter Emory Uni
versity School of Dentistry in
September.

Miss Kaye is the granddaugh

The bride-elect will receive a
BS degree in elementary edu- -
cation from the University of
Georgia in March. She' is a
member of Delta Phi Epsilon.
Mr. Salus is the grandson of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Max
Sherman of Montreal, Can., and
the late Mr. and Mrs. Otis
Salus of Vienna, Austria.
The future bridegroom will
receive a B.B.A. degree in bus
iness from the University of
Georgia in August. He is a
member of Alpha Epsilon Pi
and is vice president of Pi Sig
ma Epsilon, national sales mar- 1
kiting fraternity.
The wedding will be held
June 7 in Atlanta.

Miss Spector is a sophomore
at the University of Georgia,
majoring in English education.
Mr. Schulman is the grandson
of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isadore
Schulman and the late Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Kaplan.
The future bridegroom is a
senior at the University of Geor
gia, majoring in public relations.
He is a member of Tau Epsilon
Phi fraternity, where he served
as vice president. He was elect
ed TEP Brother of the Year. He
also serviced as Chief Justice of
the Phi Kappa literary society.
The wedding will take place
Wednesday, Mar. 18, at the
Ahavath Achim Synagogue.

Temple Sinai will hold its an
nual dance at 8:00 p.m., Satur
day Mar. 14, at the Royal Coach
Inn. The dinner-dance affair’s
theme will be “Flight Fantastic”.

Will Speak at
Zionist Group '
A special meeting of the At
lanta Zionist Council will be
held on Tuesday, March 17 at the
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter in Room No. 2 at 8 p.m.
Aubrey Morris, news director
of WSB radio, who recently re
turned from a Communications
Media tour of Israel will be the
guest speaker. Mr. Morris in
terviewed Prime Minister Golda
Meir and other top Israeli civil
and military leaders.
Mrs. Caplan, president of the
Southeastern Region of Hadassah
will report on the newly organ
ized American Zionist Feder
ation.
Mrs. Walter D. Wildstein, vice
president of Szold Group of
Hadassah will report on the re
cently held seminar of Atlanta
Christian clergy.
Robert M. Travis and Dr. Ed
ward D. Reisman, co-chairmen
of the Atlanta Zionist Council
invite the membership of consti
tuent groups which includes the
Atlanta District of the Zionist
Organization of America, Far-
band, Hadassah, Mi^rachi, and
Pioneer Women.
National JWV Commander
To Speak in
Bernard B. Dirdnfeld, national
commander of the Jewish War
Veterans, will be the principal
speaker at the Atlanta Post 112
annual Commander’s Banquet at
7:30 p. m., Sunday, Mar. 15, at
the Progressive Club.
Commander Direnfeld, who
served with distinction in the
U.S. Air Force, was decorated by
both his own government and
the government of Belgium. He
has been active in veterans af
fairs since the end of World War
II. A member of JWV’s Paul A.
Rosenblum Post 44 in Cleveland,
O., for more than 20 years, Diren
feld has held office on the Post,
County, Department, Region and
National level.
A member of both the Amer
ican Legion and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars, in 1967 he was
voted the “outstanding veteran
of the year” and awarded the
Joint Veterans Commission
Plaque.
He is a trial attorney in Cleve
land, admitted to practice be
fore the United States Supreme
Court, the Ohio Supreme Court
and other subordinate Courts,
and is active in many commun
ity activities, Jewish and Gen
eral, in Cleveland.
At the banquet, the Post’s
“Outstanding Citizen” award will
be presented to Irving K. Kaler,
Atlanta attorney, widely hailed
for his community service.
Previous recipients of the
award include the late Ralph
McGill, Police Chief Herbert
Jenkins, Dr. Irving Goldstein,
Dr. Irving Greenberg, Charles
Weltner, Mayor-emeritus Wil
liam B. Hartsfield, Ed Kahn,
Abe Goldstein, and last year’s
recipient Lt. Gov. George T.
Smith.
Dr. Gerald Reed is the out
going commander in whose hon
or the banquet is being given.
Dr. Reed has been active in
community affairs for many
years, with special emphasis on
combating bigotry aqd preju
dice. As a board member of
Hope, Inc., and as education
chairman for Active Voters, Dr.
Reed played an important role
in the quest of quality education
for all children. In 196J, Dr.
Reed was commended by the
Anti-Defamation League for the
part he played in resolving a
pattern of anti-Semitic discrimi
nation at-a local college.
In 1960, he conceived the idea
for the 1 Negro Merit Employ
ment Coordinating Committee
-and served as its first co-chair
man. In 1961, Reed became Em
ployment chairman for the At
lanta branch of SCLC, and
helped found Operation Bread
basket, which broke most of the
traditional barriers to Negro
employment in Atlanta. He is
a member of the executive com
mittee of the Atlanta Branch ^of
the NAACP and was an organ
izer of the Northside Fair Hous-

Class for Water
Safety Instructors
A new Water Safety Instruc
tors class is being offered at the
Atlanta Jewish Community Cen
ter in cooperation with the
American Red Cross for the
next eight weeks.
Classes will meet on Monday
and Wednesday nights from 7:30
to 10:00 p. m. beginning Mon
day, March 16.
Participants are required to
hold a current senior life saving
certificate.
