ahead of last year’s total—to be
more exact—60 percent.
If we maintain our momen
tum, there are sufficient pledges
still outstanding which should
enable us to reach our goal.”
Dr. Irving H. Goldstem alert
ed all workers participating in
the dual drive to a comparative
report from the National Coun
cil of Jewish Federations and
Welfare Funds. The report clear
ly shows that Atlanta’s drive is
keeping pace among the major
Jewish communities in the
United States. Goldstein stated,
“In communities such as Los
Angeles, the drive has already
obtained a 70 percent increase;
Detroit has more than a 55 per
cent gain; Miami has registered
a 60 percent increase and other
similar substantial margins over
1969 giving levels are cited.”
Lipson commented that “our
entire campaign leadership is
encouraged,-by our community’s
enthusiastic support and we shall
continue to do our share. Every
one should be aware of what
Jews in Atlanta and other cities
are doing to meet their respon
sibilities.”
Both co-chairmen commented
that there are substantial num
ber of cards outstanding and
they stressed the importance of
completing these cards within
the next week—ready to “turn
in” at the April 8 report lunch
eon. Dr. Goldstein further noted
“It is important that we finish
our campaign while the need is
great and the spirit is strong.”
The co-chairmen cautioned all
Federation campaigners not to
relax. “The job has not yet been
completed and every single gift
counts.”
