Congressman Blackburn rep resents DeKalb and Rockdale Counties. The resolution calls upon the House of Representatives to de- dare “that the introduction of Russian Pilots and the manning of missile sites by Russian tech nicians in the United Arab Re public is contributing to the in creasing tension in the Middle East . .. The President is strong ly urged to call upon the Soviet Union to withdraw all Russian personnel as a major step toward encouragement of peace in the Middle East.” Congressman Blackburn sta ted, “I feel that the placement of SAM anti-aircraft missiles on Egyptian soil seriously upsets the balance of power existing in the Middle Blast.” Mr. Black burn said he felt that the pres ence of Russian technicians man- - OBITUARIES - Max Lafkowitz Max Lafkowitz, 67, of Atlanta died Thursday, July 9. Funeral services were held July 10 with Rabbi Emanuel Feldman officiating. Interment was in Crest Lawn Memorial Park. Lafkowitz, a retired merchant, was a member of Beth Jacob Synagogue. Survivors include his wife, the former Dorothea Rosenbaum; daughter, Mrs. Myma Klinger of Atlanta; sister, Mrs. Annie Barunstein of Miami and bro ther, Mose Lafkowitz of Atlan ta. Mrs. Sarato Mussafer Mrs. Sarato Mussafer of Atlan ta died Thursday, July 9. Funeral services were held July 10 with Rabbi Joseph Cohen and-Rabbi Robert Ichay officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Mussafer was a native of Turkey and a member of Or VeShalom Synagogue. SurvivQrs include a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Israel of Atlan ta; sisters, Mrs. Solomon Piha of Atlanta and Mrs. Leah Israel of Brussels, Belgium; brother, Albert Amateou of Cape Town, South Africa. Arthur J. Shur Arthur J. Shur 63, of Atlanta died Saturday, July 11. Funeral services were held July 12 with Rabbi Sydney Mossman officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Shur a lifelong resident of Atlanta, was retired treasurer of the Second Realty Corp. Survivors include his wife, the former Annie Horwitz; daugh ter, Mrs. Marvin B. Cohen; mo ther, Mrs. Morris Shur; sister, Mrs. Lena S. Vemer, all of At lanta; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Annie Weintraub Mrs. Annie S. Weintraub, 74, of Atlanta died Thursday, July 9. Funeral services were held July 12 with Rabbi Sydney Mossman officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Mrs. Weintraub was a member of Shearith Israel Synagogue. BLOOD DONOR AGE LOWERED IN GEORGIA A bill enabling individuals 18 or over; to give blood without parental consent went into ef fect for Georgians July 1, Prior to th® passage of the bill, Georgia residents between 1?. and 21 years of age were re quired to have parental consent to donate blood unless they were members of the armed forces or were married. Other states with similar pro visions are California, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Okla homa, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington and Wisconsin. Rabbi David Geffen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Geffen, was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the recent graduation exercises of Co lumbia Univer sity held in New York City. His subject dealt with Medieval! Jewish Philoso phy with, spec-1 ial emphasis on| the works of a famous Italian phi losopher,] Elijah Delmed- igo, who lived in the 15th Cen tury and taught philosophy at the University of Padua. Del- medigo had a great influence on early Renaissance philosophers, particularly Count Pico and Cardinal Domenico GrimanL A very significant contribution is made in Rabbi Geffen’s disser tation, since Dr. G effen included the first translation of Delmfd- igo’s important work, “Examina tion of Religion” written in 1490. Rabbi Geffen is now serving as the rabbi of Beth Shalom Synagogue in Wilming ton, Dela., where he resides with his wife and children. JAMES B. FALLAIZE (right) of the Morris-Fallaize Insurance has been elected president of the Atlanta Association of Indepen dent Insurance Agency for 1970-71. He succeeds Oby T. Brewer (right). Mr. Fallaize is widely known in the Atlanta area where he has been associated in he insurance industry for over 20 years. Mrs. Morris (Sarah) Wengrow of Columbia, S. C., has been awarded the title of “Certified ‘Braillist” by the Library of Congress. Answering an appeal for volunteers to learn to read and write Braille, Mrs. Wen grow enrolled in an intensive ten month course. The purpose was to learn to transcribe reg ular textbooks into Braille for the visually handicapped.
