new Post Commander, and Raymond Tarfitz, immediate past
Commander. Goldberg said 190,099 trees hare been pledged for
the JWV Forest.
Dr. Benjamin E. Mays (right), president, Atlanta Board of
Education and president emeritus, Morehouse College, was
awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at the
49th Annual Commencement of Yeahlva University In New York.
Dr. Mays Is shown with Dr. Samuel Belkin, president, Yeshiva
University.
Dick Krieger, assistant director of the Jewish Welfare Fund in
Memphis, receives a book, a letter of appreciation and an in
vitation to vtelt Israel from Consul for Economic Affairs for the
Southeast Abraham Sharlr. Mr. Sharir made the presentation in
behalf of Consul General Moshe Gil boa and himself to honor
Mr. Krieger for his untiring efforts In establishing Important
contacts between the Jewish community In Memphis and the
State of Israel.” Krieger Is leaving Memphis to become director
of the Jewteb Welfare Fund In Utica, N. Y.

the 19th annual summer season
of Theater of the Stare on July
13 in “Hello Dolly." Dolly.”
Broadway’s longest-running hit,
will play through July 18 at the
Atlanta Civic Center.
Waiting in the wings is
“Plaza Suite,” Neil Simon’s com
edy of three sets of guests in a
hotel suite on different occa-
s i o n s . Television personality
Paul Lynde stars in this one,
July 20-25
Carol Lawrence and Harve
Presnell share honors in the sea
son’s third production. “The Un-
sinkable Molly Brown,” running
from July 27 through August 1.
Patrice Munsel comes to At
lanta for “The Great Waltz,” an
excursion back to the candle-lit
nights, the balls and beer-gar
dens of old Vienna, which runs
from August 3 to 8,
The decadence of 1930 Berlin
is the basis for the season’s
fifth show, “Cabaret.” Starring
is Joel Grey who won a Tony
Award for his performance in
the show.
Climaxing the season will be
Robert Merrill as Tevye in
“Fiddler on the Roof.” This is
the show that makes is audien
ces feel like dancing in the
aisles with its songs and ex
citement, yet its emotion has put
lumps in mass throats
Evening performances are at
8:30 with Sunday matinees at
3 p.m.

LONDON (JTA) — A group
representing the Universit i e s
Committee for Soviet Jewry de
monstrated peacefully outside
the Soviet Embassy to protest
the alleged mistreatment of
Leonid Kolchinsky, a 19-year-
old Jewish youth from Kharkov
who, reportedly, was forcibly
drafted into the Red Army after
he expressed a wish to go to
IsraeL The group left a letter
at the Embassy stating that ac
cording to their latest informa
tion, Kolchinsky has been sent
to a “corrective camp” in Si
beria and is suffering from
peneumonia.
