THE SOUTHERN ISRAELITE
JACOBS FAMILY
MEET IN ATLANTA
The descendants of Abraham
and Rosa Jacobs gathered in
Atlanta during the weekend of
June 18, 19 and 20 for their tra
ditional reunion.
The family attended services
in the Ahavath Achim Syn
agogue to observe the Yahrzeit
of Abraham Jacobs of blessed
memory. Memorial services
were conducted on Sunday at
Oakland Cemetery for departed
relatives.
These annual gatherings were
established as a tradition of
holding memorial services in
memory of their parents at the
time of their annual family re
unions by the children of the
Jacobs couple. They were the
late Mrs. William (Becky) Clein
of Miami; Mrs. Harris (Annie)
Lubel of Mobile; Mrs. Max
(Minnie) Kessler of Atlanta; Ed
ward Jacobs, New York City;
Hyman S. Jacobs and Joseph B.
Jacobs, both of Atlanta.
This tradition is still carried
on by the grandchildren and
great-grandchildren to the
fourth generation who came
to Atlanta from various parts of
the South and other areas.
A family dinner was given
by Mrs. Hyman S. Jacobs and
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard A. Bagen
on Saturday evening at the Rivi
era Hyatt House and on Sunday,
Mr. and Mrs. Bagen hosted a
luncheon at their home on
Moores Mill Road.

BRIARCLIFF HIGH
GRAD CHOOSES
ISRAEL ARMY. ...
Consul General Moshe Gilboa
makes dozens of trips in the
interest of his job — but this
week a visit to New York had
quite a different purpose.
In the company of his wife
Ayala and younger daughter
Vered, the consul general was
bidding farewell to older
daughter Gitit who bas chosen
to return to Israel and perform
her service to the Army.
A recent graduate of Briarcliff
High, Gitet could have elected
to remain in America and at
tend college, under the special
privilege arranged for diplomats
and families.
Instead, she chose to delay
any further formal education
and take her place in the ranks
of the women serving her
country.
She was not certain about a
specific assignment, whether it
would be with a “Nahal” pio
neer' settlement assignment) or
in the regular ranks.
