An American distributor re

cording to the Jerusalem Post
he attests that, in all that time,
he has never had an Israeli-
made passenger car tire re
turned for poor performance.
“In fact,” he added, “our cus
tomers increasingly specify that
they want an Israeli tire.”

to the welfare of Eretz Yisrael.
Critics within the nation itself
questioned the wisdom of putt
ing money into two tire fac
tories “when even one is too
much for local needs” (Maariv,
April 27, 1952). The other man
ufacturer is Samson Tire and
Rubber Company.
T;he export earnings of Sam
son and Alliance combined last
year amounted to more than
$16,000,000, a not inconsiderable
portion of Israel’s critical dollar
intake. In May, 1970, Alliance
shares made their appearance
on the American stock exchange
for $8. Today’s listing (as of
this writing) is $45.
Alliance officials explain that
their appeal to the American
market has come about through

American distributors could buy
thdse from only two companies,
one in France and one in Italy.
Now U.S. Rubber gets them
from Alliance in Israel.
Other specialties of Alliance
include tires for concrete
mixers, giant earth movers,
fork-lift vehicles, mobile homes,
racing cars and hearses. They
have to be puncture-proof for
the hearses.
Another big reason for Alli
ance’s success is the dedication
of its labor force and its man
agement. Both groups demon
strate their concern for helping
their country’s economy, the lat
ter by putting almost 90% of
its profits back into the com

line. In the 20 years that the
company has been in business
its workers have never gone on
strike.
