Jews in Eastern Europe.
The Rumanian authorities
have given no explanation and
have made no announcement on
the matter.
Several Eastern European
countries, including Poland and
the Soviet Union, have taken
exception to Israeli stamps in
the past on grounds that they
constituted propaganda and
have removed the stamps or re
turned the letters

I)r Schatten also met with Israel’s Prime Minister Golda Meir,
and defense minister Moshe Dayan as part of an Israel Bond
Conference and fact finding mission to learn about Israel’s eco
nomic problems, particularly those resulting from the arrival of
thousands of Russian immigrants. The goal of $450 million of
Israel Bonds was announced. Recently Mr. Sapir visited Atlanta
and was assured by Dr. Schatten that the Atlanta community
will make an all out effort to fulfill its quota and responsibility.

trip also included a visit to the
Spanish Portuguese Synagogue,

and the UN, where they met
with a representative of the Is
raeli delegation.
