Campaign Over $4,350,000 Mark
Final Phase Now Under Way
Leaders in the 1972 Federa
tion Campaign drive were call
ed to a special report meeting
May 2 in an effort to step up
the pace of the 1972 Federation-
IEF Campaign. Campaign gen
eral chairman Sidney Feldman
reported that the campaign had
exceeded the $4,350,000 level,
but the pace of card coverage
had been on the decline
Vice chairmen Jerry Dubrof
and Harvey Jacobson reported
that more than 500 campaign
volunteers have been urged to
redouble their efforts to assure
the success of what must be
“the best ever” campaign in the
history of the Jewish Welfare
Federation.
The Jewish Welfare Federa-
i tion board of directors at its
^meeting last week was >-tol& of
the Campaign’s initial success,
but the final weeks will de
pend on the work of divisional
heads, captains and workers.
Feldman added “the workers
understand the tremen d o u s
needs to be met, they have their
assignments and our success
now depend upon the success
ful completion of their cards.”
The Women’s Division hopes
to complete its work within the
next few weeks according to
Women’s Division chairmen Mrs.
Harvey Jacobson and Mrs.
Stanley Rinzler.
At the report meeting, Feld
man told of pressures being
placed on local campaigns
around the country to conduct
the drive in the most efficient
manner possible in order to
achieve maximum success. Be
cause of the critical problems
facing Israel due to the large
migration of Soviet Jews to the
country, the quota of giving in
Atlanta was increased this year
to $7,600,000. Feldman reported
a great deal of involvement and
participation in the campaign.
In addition to the large army
of volunteers, a junior division
was organized in cooperation
with the Atlanta Jewish Youth
Council. Their programming and
solicitations are currently under
way. The annual religious
school campaign is currently
being conducted under the
auspices of the Atlanta Bureau
of Jewish Education in coopera-

Atlanta Rabbinate Urges
Support of AJW F Campaign
Citing the continuing crisis of the Jewish people and the State
of Israel, the Atlanta Rabbinical Association has affirmed its sup
port of the Jewish Welfare Federation and United Jewish Appeal
campaigns by adoption of the following resolution:
"We, representing the spiritual leadership nj our respective syn
agogues in the Atlanta Jewish community, having noted the con
tinuing crisis with which the Jewish people and the State of Israel
•are confronted, hereby call upon our congregants to support in
every way possible the welfare and well-being of the Jewish State
and the Jewish people.
"No resources of energy, time, or money should be sjiared in
order to effect an easing of the critical needs both here and
abroad.
“The attachment of Jews to the synagogue is an expression of
loyalty to Judaism and to Jews everywhere—especially in Eretz
Yisrael, the fountainhead of our faith.
“Since synagogue membership brings' with it a heightened sense
of responsibility towards our fellow Jcws l we call upon the Jewish
community of Atlanta to participate fully in the current campaigns

of our brethren throughout the world .”
