. . . Jewish Poor
Continued from page 6
he had consulted with repres
entatives of the Jewish poor on
such determinations for years.
Rosen has publicly criticized
Dr. Marvin Schick, an Orthodox
Jew who was named in Feb
ruary, 1970, las Mayor Lind
say’s Assistant for Intergroup
Relations, with one specific as
signment that of advising the
Mayor on Jewish affairs and
getting legislation and money to
New York City Jews. Rosen as-,
serted that Dr. Schick, who has,
since been promoted to be an
administrative assistant to the
Mayor while retaining his Jew
ish advisory role, does not—as a
city official—represent adequ
ately the needs and aspirations
of New York Jews. Dr. Schick
initially declined to comment on
that criticism but subsequently
he and Rosen exchanged bitter
charges over the many pro
grams for the Jewish poor in
New York City in which Dr.
Schick’s department is involved.
