For Bond Dinner of State
Dr. William E. Schatten, Is
rael Bond chairman, has an
nounced that attendance at the
Atlanta Israel Dinner of State
on May 31 honoring Larry M.
Frank, exceeds all expectations.
In excess of 800 people have al
ready made reservations, indi
cating that this will be the larg
est turnout in Israel Bond his
tory.
Dr. Schatten praised members
of the Host Committee for their
diligent and devoted efforts in
helping achieve these results,
and in particular the chairmen
of the Committee of Hosts, Joan
and Nathan Lipson, for “the
ZOA and Zionist Federation
Is Topic for May 30 Meeting
Rabbi Joseph P. Sternstein
will discuss “The ZOA Case vis-
a-vis the American Zionist Fed
eration” at the annual meeting
of the Atlanta District Zionist
Organization of America set for
8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at
the AJCC.
Rabbi Sternstein, presently
rabbi of Temple Beth Sholom of
Roslyn Heights, N.Y., prepared
his doctoral thesis in Medieval
Jewish Philosophy under Prof.
Abraham Joshua Heschel. Rab
bi Sternstein is presently writing
two books on relations between
American and Israeli Jewry and
the ideological implications in
volved.
Rabbi Sternstein is also a
graduate of Brooklyn College
and of St. John’s University
School of Law, from which he
holds a doctorate in jurispru
dence. He is a charter fellow of
the Herbert Lehman Institute
of Talmudic Ethics, as well.
He recently completed an ex
tensive trip to Russia and other
countries behind the Iron Cur
tain. He is vice chairman of the
national executive committee of
the ZOA, a member of its ad-

Col. Kaplan joined the Israel
Defense Forces immediately on
arrival in Israel. While working
his way up to his present rank,
he also found time to study, and
graduated from the Hebrew
University, Tel Aviv-Haifa, with
a BA degree in political science
In June 1970, he received a
masters degree in political sci
ence and government from
Texas University. Presently on
leave from the Army, he heads
the Israel Aliyah Center office
in Toronto, Canada.
In Atlanta, Col. Kaplan’s topic
will be "Absorption and Aliyah
in 1972.”
Shimon Topor will speak on
Business Opportunities and In
vestments in Israel. A workshop
will follow to discuss various
aspects of aliyah.

stallation with its offshoot, at
11:15 a.m., Sunday, June 4. The

Emet BBG
On Saturday, Apr. 22, EMET
BBG had a beau picnic at Chas
tain Park. The four boys on the
Beau Court were Mark Tarica,
Charles Zimmerman, Scott Holtz
and Alan Rich. After lunch, soft-
ball was played. The next day
at the regular meeting, Mark
Tarica was voted Beau for 1972.
April 28 through 30 was the
Atlanta Council Convention at
Camp Barney Medintz. Girls
from Emet attending were
Fayne Whitlock, Bonnie Sukloff,
Stevi Nuss, Karen Klenberg,
Susan Lipsey, Diane Farber. Liz
Henig and Lynn Shier.
Installation of officers for
next year took place on May
21.
