On Sunday, May 21, Haviv

This year elections were held
a little differently in that Haviv
only elected five officers. They
are Barbara Saul, president;
Linda Lincoln, vice president-
chaplain; Shelley Gerson, sec
retary; Sandra Freeman, treas
urer; Ellie Glassman, spirit
chairman-historian, and Olga
Feldman, counselor.
The new officers were install
ed at a banquet at Shelley Ger-
son’s house on Saturday night,
May 27. After the installation,
all of Haviv and their dates
went to Olga Feldman’s house
for an enjoyable cookout.

Atlanta. This meeting was ac
claimed by national officers as
the finest meeting ever held

On behalf of the national fra
ternity, Dr. Ronald Goldstein,

make plans to attend the 1971
convention in Jerusalem. Con
gratulating the seniors. Dr. Gold

72 DRIVE CONTINUES
Six Days In
MEYER L. BALSER
Highlighting the urgency of
the Cash Mobilization Drive
being implemented by the At
lanta Jewish Welfare Federa
tion during the current week,
June 4 to 9, is the theme, “Six
Days in June.”
Meyer L. Balser, cash collec
tion committtee chairman, noted
that the six days in June cor
respond with the date of the
six day war of 1967.
Joining Mr. Balser as co-
chairmen are Edward Krick and
J Joseph Cohen.
Sidney Feldman, gen e r a 1
chairman of the 1972 Campaign,
endorsed the Cash Collection
Drive with the plea that Atlanta
Jlewrv respond wholeheartedly
to the need for cash. Chairman
Feldman reported that the 1972
Federation drive had nearly
reached the five-million dollar
mark and was progressing tow
ard the final stage of campaign
completion.
“We ask everyone in the At
lanta Jewish community who
has not yet made his pledge to
do so immediately in order that
the local, national and overseas
needs oan be met,” Feldman
stated. “But the totals are just
the beginning — the real task
before us is to convert the
pledges into cash.”
“Cash needs are greater this
year because the demand for
services is greater and services
cost more than ever before,”
Balser said. The expected im
migration to Israel from Russia
is 20,000 more than originally
anticipated and budgeted Costs
have increased for all programs
for absorption, education, hous
ing and social services.
“Everyday the immigrants ar
rive and every day the bills
must be paid. The price of de
fault is human suffering. With
out money, Israel cannot pay
her bills and without cash, we
can’t provide the day to day
services for our Jewish com
munity in Atlanta and the rest
of the world” Balser reported.
Co-chairmen Krick and Cohen
urged the contributors to con
vert their pledges into cash as
soon as possible and forward
payments to the Jewish Wel
fare Federation 1753 Peachtree
Road, N. E., Atlanta, Georgia
