Dr. and Mrs. Max Cutler of
Los Angeles were recent visitors
in Atlanta with his sister, Mrs.

was awarded this year to Miss
Helen Chawkin, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Chawkin of
Chattanooga, by the Jewish
Community Center there.

and called themselves Alimet.
On Wednesday night, June 7,
Alimet played a practice game
against B’nt Tovah and won.
The score was 16-7. The team’s
new coaches are Jack Levy and
Rick Cohen.
Emet also had its installation
on May 21. Carol Krauss in
stalled new officers. The new
officers are Stevi Nuss, presi
dent; Ellen Cohen, vice presi
dent; Bonnie Sukloff, secretary;
Julie Chesin, treasurer; Caren
Smith and Fayne Whitlock, his-
torians-editors; Susan Lipsey,
spirit chairman.
Emet is now in its tenth
grade year and has many plans
for its future.
Leiter have returned to Atlanta
from Chicago where they went
because of the Illness of their
mother, Mrs. Rose Liebling. Mrs
Liebling was taken ill during a
visit to her sister and was hos
pitalized at the Louis Weiss
Memorial Hospital for three
weeks. Friends will be glad to
know she has recovered and is
continuing her vacation with
Miss Lillian Rossman, 3550 Lake
Shore Dr. Mrs. Leibling expects
to return to Atlanta in late Au
gust in time for the opening
meeting of Pioneer Women Club
1, which she has served as pres
ident for many years.

Miss Chawkin has served as
president of B’nai B'rith Girls,
vice president of Jewish Youth

BBG, president of the Brainerd
High School Art Club and has

is a member of the National
Honor Society and National
Beta Club. She was third in her
recent graduating class of 375
at Brainerd High School and
had received the Art and His
tory awards.
Miss Chawkin plans to attend
the University of Texas in
the fall
Mrs. Sara Cross
Mrs. Sara Gross, 89, of At
lanta died Sunday, June 18.
Graveside services were held
June 19 in Greenwood Ceme
tery.
Mrs. Gross, a widow, was a
member of the Jewish Home.
Surviving are sisters, Mrs.
Sofie Newman of Atlanta and
Mrs. Esther Hirsch of New
York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ger-
son of Macon announce the
birth of a daughter, Holli Fayne,
on May 23. Grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerson of
Macon and Mr. and Mfs. Sam
Isenberg of Atlan.u.

stone, fin. sec.; Mrs. Melvin

is president ex-officio.
Nominated to the Sherah Is

kauer, George Barnett; for one
year, Harold Lavine. Remaining
on the board from previous
terms are Sidney Backer, Leigh
Brody, Morris Cohen, Mrs.

Marshall Dayan, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Sig Dayan was first
place winner in an essay con
test sponsored by the Fraternal
Order of Police Auxiliary. Mar
shall’s prize was a $50 bond for
his essay “What a Policeman
Means to Me.”
Gail Sandra Kruger, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kruger,
observed her Bat Mitzva at
Sherah Israel Synagogue orf-
June 16 and 17. She is the
granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Kruger of Macon, Mrs.
Bess Safer and Hyman Safer,
both of Jacksonville. Mrs. L. E.
Schwartz of Macon is Gail’s
great-grandmother.
Jerome Cinman
Jerome Cinman, 52, of Atlanta
died Thursday, June 15.
After services held in Atlanta
Friday, interment was held in
Chicago on June 19.
Mr. Cinman was the owner
of Peachtree Aircraft Brokers.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Maxine Cinman; son, An
drew Philip Cinman, both of
Atlanta; father, Samuel Cinman
of Chicago and mother, Mrs.
Peg A. Cinman of San Fran
cisco.
Harry Gelb
Harry Gelb, father of Martin
S. Gelb, executive director of
the Jewish National Fund in At
lanta, died in Miami Beach, on
Friday, June 16.
Mr. Gelb, formerly of New
Rochelle, N. Y., had retired to
Miami Beach several years ago.
Funeral services were held
June 18 in New Rochelle, with
burial in the family plot. Shiva
will be at the home of Dave
Gelb, 939 Sylvan Way, Mam-
aroneck, N. Y.
Other survivors include his
wife; daughter, Mrs. Herman
Gross of Charlotte and four
grandchildren.
