Washington from June 17-20.
Wildsteins to Dedicate Georgia Pylon
At Kennedy Memorial In Israel
Rabbi and Mrs. Israel J. Gerber and family of Charlotte were
recently photographed at the John F. Kennedy Memorial in Lsrael
with an official of the Jerusalem JNF office.
Dedication of the State of
Georgia Pylon at the Kennedy
Memorial in the Judean Hills
near Jerusalem will take place
on Thursday, June 29. Atlanta
surgeons Drs. Walter and Gil
bert Wildstein will dedicate the
pylon in memory of their father,
the late Dr. Mitchel Wildstein
of Brooklyn.
The Kennedy Memorial’s de
sign signifies a tree cut down
in mid-growth, with the
“trunk” formed by 50 foot
pylons representing each state
of the nation.

Sen. David H. Gambrell, Gov.
Jimmy Carter and Mayor Sam
Massell have each invited .any
Atlantans, Georgians or resi
dents of the Southeast who may
be in Israel at the time, to join
in the dedication festivities.
The Kennedy Peace Forest
and Mem’orial Center, a project
of the Jewish National Fund,
has been developed from contri
butions of individuals, Jews and
non-Jews, fraternal and service
organizations, churches and syn
agogues and families. Over five
million trees have been planted
to date.
The Wildstein family will also
celebrate the Bar Mitzva of
Robert Wildstein, son of Dr. and
Mrs. Walter Wildstein, which
will take place at the Western
Wall on Saturday, July 1. He is
the grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Benchuck of Chicago and
Mrs. Mitchel Wildstein and the
late Dr. Wildstein of Brooklyn.
Following a study tour of
Israel, the family will travel in
Europe. In France and Great
Britain, they will be special
guests of the Jewish National
Fund of those countries.

Stone Mountain Outing
Temple Singles has planned a
special Summer Outing at Stone
Mountain for Sunday, June 25.
The group will meet at the
Temple at 4:30 p.m. A charge of
$1 per person will cover trans j
portation both ways and en
trance fee to Stone Mountain
Park
A buffet dinner for $3.25
will be served at the Stone
Mountain Inn Restaurant, after
which members can enjoy
whatever attractions at the park
they wish. Normal fees will
apply for park features. Non
members are welcome.
A cookout on Sunday, July 9
is also planned, with complete
details to be announced.

Sons of Judaea AZA held an
end-of-the-year swimming party
at the home of Arthur Levin in
honor of the Sweetheart Court.

From an election held previ
ously, Sharon Capelouto was
announced as Sweetheart for
the coming year.
Officers elected for 1972-73
are Mario Greszes, president;
Henry Schuster, vice president;
Bruce Benator, secretary, and
Stuart Shapira, treasurer. These
officers will be installed at the
beginning of the school year.

Yerocham Amitai, national di
rector of the Israel Aliyah Cen
ter, Inc., for the United States
and Canada will make his first
visit to Atlanta on Tuesday,
June 27. He will attend a
meeting of Chug Aliyah at 9:00
p.m. at the home of Mrs. Jack
Perry, 2249 Chrsyler Terrace,
N. E.
Chug Aliyah, the Aliyah
group, is comprised of persons
who are considering Aliyah in
the near or far future, or who
are just interested in discussions
of Israel’s programs and prob
lems. Plans are for the group
to meet monthly to share in
formation on such topics as
housing, education and business
opportunities in Israel.
Mr. Amitai was born in Po
land in 1926, where his father
was a teacher in a Hebrew
school (which later became a
Yiddish school) in Przemysl.
During World War II, he lost
his parents, his sister and his
brother. Amitai was arrested in
1945 and taken to Auschwitz.
After being transferred to Eb-
ensee in Austria, he was lib
erated by the US Army.
After the war he becarye ac
tive in European Zionist causes,
eventually being trained by
the Haganah. Late in 1948, he
came to Israel and formally
joined the air force.
He served in many capacities
in the air force, and held the
post of deputy to the comman
der of the air force for person
nel until 1970.
While in service. Col. Ami
tai studied law at Tel Aviv
University anti became a mem
ber of the Israeli Bar. He also
did graduate work in business
administration.
Upon his retirement from
the Israeli Air Force, he as
sumed his present post in the
aliyah field.

Bobby Renick, who has com
pleted his freshman year at
John Marshall Law School, re
ceived the publishers award for
excellence in corporation law.
He was also presented a certifi
cate of appreciation from the
faculty. Renick, whose wife is
the former Tina Schneider of
Augusta was also editor of the
yearbook. The Renicks and Mr.
and Mrs. Abe Schneider have
returned from a vacation in
Miami Beach.
American Jewish Committee (Jives Human Relations Award to Selig
Simon S. Selig Jr. (r), civic and communal leader, ac
cents the 1972 American Jewish Committee — Atlanta
Chapter — Human Relations Award from Edward M.
Abrams, Atlanta chairman. Rabhi Marc Tanenbauni
(renter) was chief speaker at the Chapter’s Annual
Dinner.
Participating in the tribute to Mr. Selig were (1 to r)
Herbert B. Cohen, dinner chairman; Louis Regenstein,
past honoree and former AJC chairma; Mr. and Mrs.
Selig and Rabbi Tanenbauni.
The Atlanta AJCommittee began the recently concluded
season with presentation of the 1971 award to DeJongh
Franklin (r), former national vice president. With him
are former chapter chairman Edward E. Elson and 1970
recipient of the AJC award. Mayor Sam Massell.
