Red-Carpet Reception
For Carter, Dinitz
The full “red carpet’’
treatment will be given to
Governor Jimmy Carter and
Israel’s Ambassador to the
United States Simcha Dini-
ta at a reception prior to the
Atlanta-Israel Dinner of State
to be held on Tuesday, June
19, at the Regency Hyatt
House, according to Consul
General Benjamin Bonney
and Dr. William E. Schatten,
chairman of the Atlanta Is
rael Bond Committee.
TTie reception will give the
Host Committee members, their
guests and dignitaries attending
the dinner a before-hand
opportunity to meet and

recently returned from Israel
and Ambassador Dinitz, on his
first visit to Atlanta since being
appointed ambassador.
The Dinner of State will be the
occasion of Governor Carter
receiving the Eleanor Roosevelt-
Israel Humanities Award. The
award and major address will be
delivered by Ambassador Dinitz.
Reservations are exceeding all
expectations and Dr. Schatten
urged all those planning or
desiring to attend to make their
reservations now to be properly
accommodated. Information can
be had by calling the Israel Bond
office at 892-7487. Dietary laws
strictly observed. Dinner music
with an Israeli theme will be
featured.
Serving with Dr. Schatten on
the committee for the dinner are
Robert J. Lipshutz, co-
chairman ; Janice and Marvin
Shoob, chairmen of the
committee of hosts, and Larry
M. Frank, regional chairman of
the National Israel Bond
Committee.

I have found this to be a tasty
and filling dish and one that should
be welcomed by those who grum
ble about the “same old meals.” It
goes well with a tossed salad and
apple sauce.
2 lbs. kosher “tenderloin” strips
1 4-o/. can mushrooms (drained)
2 medium ontons cut In rings
Meat tenderizer
Garlic powder
Pepper
Cooked rice (serving for four)
Put meat tenderizer and other
spices on meat to taste. Sear on all
sides. Reduce heat to moderate,
add vegetables and cook until meat
is tender and onions golden. Serve
on a bed of hot rice. Serves four.
Note: If tenderloin is un
available at your butcher, use
strips of shoulder meat.

IRVING GORDON
Gordon Named
Histadrut Director
The appointment of Irving Gor
don of Miami Beach, formerly of
Atlanta, as director of the Israel
Histadrut for South Florida, was
announced Wednesday, May 16,
by the Israel Histadrut.Council of
Greater Miami.
Gordon, a former resident of
Atlanta, established Gordon's Op
ticians 21 years ago and was
known as Atlanta's Union opti
cian. During his years in Atlanta,
Irving Gordon actively par
ticipated in many facets of Jewish
community life. He served three
terms as chairman of Workmen's
Circle Branch 1015, and now
serves on its regional board
of directors. He is a member
of the national board of di
rectors of the Jewish Labor
Committe.
Gordon served as a member of
various committees of the Atlanta
Jewish Welfare Federation. He
also served on the boards of the
Jewish Community Center and
Bureau of Jewish Education.
From 1963-1965, Gordon served
as executive director of the city of
Atlanta's “People to People"
program.
He will operate from Histadrut
headquarters in the 420 Lincoln
Road Building, Miami Beach
