The letters, ribbon-like and abstract in form, are set in relief against a textured background, giving a three dimensional effect. The pin is representative of the dynamic creative contemporary art scene in Israel. The original pin was presented to Mrs. Yitzhak Rabin, wife of the Prime Minister, at the National Israel Bond Leadership Conference. Mr. Schatz is the son of the late, distinguished professor, Boris Schatz, who founded the famous Bezalel Art Museum and School which is the training ground for Israel’s contemporary artists. The designer was born in Jerusalem in 1912, and began his art studies in Paris. In 1930 he and his father had a series of joint exhibitions of their works. Since that time he has had many one-man shows in the United States, Europe and Israel.
