JWV ‘Outstanding Citizen ’
Award To Be Given May 4
The Jewish War Veterans Post
112 will honor a former com
mander, Dr. Marvin Goldstein,
with its “Outstanding Citizen"
award at the annual banquet on
Sunday, May 4. The event will
take place at the Atlanta Cabana
with a 7:30 p.m. reception followed
by dinner at 8:30.
Dr. Goldstein, a native Atlan
tan, has been involved locally,
nationally and internationally in
dental and orthodontic
organizations and activities. In
1964, he was international presi
dent of Alpha Omega Dental
Fraternity.
In communal activities, Dr
Goldstein has been president of
Atlanta Lodge of B'nai B’rith,
Southeastern chairman of the
Armed Services Division of the
National Jewish Welfare Board,

national board. He has been on the
executive board of the American
Jewish Committee, general chair
man of the 1967 and 1968 Federa
tion campaigns, chairman of the
community relations committee of
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Council, past president of Atlanta
Men's ORT. Dr. Goldstein is a
past member of the boards of the
Atlanta Jewish Community Center
and the Standard Club and a
member of Fulton Masonic Lodge.
Civic endeavors have included
vice chairmanship of the USO and
membership on the national USO
executive committee, the National
Conference of Christians and
Jews. Other memberships include
the Atlanta Chamber of
Commerce, Northwest Girl Scout
Council, Georgia Chapter of Pro
ject Hope and the Civitan Club
board.
Previous honors have included
the Atlanta USO's 25th anniver
sary award, the JWB Award for
Armed Services wotk, B'nai B’rith
Distinguished Service Award and
State of Israel Bonds award.
Dr. Goldstein and his wife, the
former Rita Atlas, have five
children: Armand, Aleta, Andrew,
Ann and Adam.

A JCommittee Plans
69th Annual Meet In NY.
Jonathan Golden, chairman of
the Atlanta Chapter, American
Jewish Committee, will head a
delegation to the 69th annual
meeting of the AJC to be held May
1-4 in New York.
Others attending from Atlanta
include Mr. and Mrs. Miles J.
Alexander, Mr. and Mrs. David
Goldwasser, Richard A. Reiman,
AJC director William Gralnick
and Mrs. Gralnick.
The complexities of the Middle
East, along with its impact on
American Jews, will comprise a
major part of the agenda. Speak
ers will include Israel’s Am
bassador to the United States
Simcha Dinitz and Undersecretary
of State Joseph Sisco.
Morris B Abram, formerly of
Atlanta, will be the recipient of
AJC’s American Liberties
Medallion. Barbara Walters, co
host of NBC's “Today” show, will
receive the Institute of Human
Relations' Mass Media Award.
Another Atlantan, Vernon E.
Jordan Jr., executive director of
the National Urban League, will
make the presentation to Abrams.
Jordan was the featured speaker at
the Atlanta Chapter’s annual
LOVELY FABRICS
meeting in 1974.
Morris Abram, presently
heading the Moreland Com
mission’s investigation of nursing
homes and residential facilities in
New York State, is also chairman
of the board of the United Negro
College Fund and honorary presi
dent ol AJC. He is expected to res
pond to the award presentation
with a major speech urging
renewal of traditional Black-
Jewish coalitions and recommen
ding that both groups rally to the
support of Israel.
Workshops, seminars, round
table groups and other addresses
will deal wjth current issues in
human relations.
