munily, congregation-in
formation planned to serve
residents of DeKalb, Stone Moun
tain, and adjacent areas, will hold
its first service for Shavuot. The
service will take place at 8:15 p.m.
Friday, May 16, at St. Michael’s
and All Angels Church, 6780
South Memorial Dr. An Oneg
Shabbat will follow.

A general membership meeting
is planned for 10:00 a.m. Sunday,
May 18, at Mathis Dairy, 3181
Rainbow Dr., Decatur.
Copies of the feasibility report
and budget are being mailed to
those who have expressed interest.
At the meeting votes will be cast
on the final establishment of the
congregation.
Persons interested in the
endeavor, but unable to attend the
general meeting are asked to call
Mrs. Edelstein.
A family picnic will follow the
meeting.
Interfaith Marriage
Dialogue at Emory
A panel discussion by members
of the United Campus Ministry
Protestant, Roman Catholic and
Jewish campus ministers will pre
sent their views on interfaith
marriage, Sunday, May 11, at 8:00
p.m. at the AMUC Art Gallery,
Emory University. ,
There will be time for questions
and responses from the audience.

Miles Alexanderfor '75-76
Miles J. Alexander was elected
chairman of the Atlanta Chapter
of the American Jewish Com
mittee at its recent annual
meeting. Vice chairmen also
elected were Dr. Sheldon B.
Cohen, Mrs. Edward E. Elson,
Mrs. DeJongh Franklin, Dr. Ir
ving L. Greenberg, and S. Stephen
Selig III
Mrs. Dorothy K. Fiferst was
elected secretary and Richard A.
Reiman was elected treasurer.
Mr. Alexander, a partner in the
firm of Kilpatrick, Cody, Rogers,
McClatchey and Regenstcin, is an
active member of the Lawyers
Club of Atlanta and the Atlanta,
Georgia, and American Bar
associations.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania
in 1931, he received his high school
diploma in Orlando, Fla., and
entered Emory University in 1948.
He was Phi Beta Kappa,
graduating in 1952. Mr. Alex
ander’s law degree is from Har
vard, earned with honors in 1955.
He was a Judge Advocate in the
United States Air Force, returning
to the Harvard faculty as a
teaching fellow in 1957. In 1958,
he became associated with his pre
sent firm.
Mr. Alexander has served as a
member of the Atlanta Bar
Association crime study com
mittee, an ACLU participating at
torney, a member of the Mayor's
Citizens Advisory Committee,
Resurgens Atlanta, the Communi
ty Relations Council of (he Jewish
Welfare Federation, the advisory
board of the Atlanta Anti-
Defamation League,and chapter
treasurer of the Atlanta Chapter of
the American Jewish Committee.
He is a member of Temple Sinai
and the Commerce, Atlanta City,
and Standard clubs.
Miles Alexander is married to
the former Elaine Barron. They
have four children, Kent, David,
Michael, and Paige

birth of their daughter, Jennifer
Ann, on April 28. Grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard
Friedberg and Mr. and Mrs.

of Charlotte, formerly of Atlanta,
announce the birth of a daughter,
Elizabeth Ann, on May 3. Mrs.
Krebs is the former Donna Iconis.
The baby's grandparents are Mr
and Mrs. John Iconis and Mr. and
Mrs. Milton Krebs of Atlanta.

Gary Frank Howard, formerly
of Atlanta, had the highest score of
the 110 persons who recently pass
ed the Tucson Bar Examination.
The son of Mr. and M'rs. Bernard
Howard of Atlanta, Gary is a
graduate of the University of Tex
as. He and his wife, the former

Set for Jacksonville
Mrs. James Feldman, a vice
president of the national Hadassah
board, will be keynote speaker and
advisor when the Southeastern
Region of Hadassah opens its an
nual conference in Jacksonville, on
May 18.
The three-day meeting will be
held at the Hilton Hotel and
registration begins on Sunday at
11:30 a.m. Approximately 100
delegates and guests from North
Florida, Georgia, South Carolina
and North Carolina are expected
to attend.
The opening banquet is schedul
ed for Sunday, May 18, at 7:30
p.m. when Mrs. Feldman will ad
dress the Conference on
“Parameters of the Future.”
Shlomo Levy, Israeli Consul
General for seven Southeastern
states, will join Mrs. Feldman to
lead the Zionist Affairs Plenary on
Monday evening. May 19, follow
ing a 7:00 p.m. dinner.
The Jacksonville Chapter, hosts
to the Conference for the first time
in five years, will be recognized at
the banquet in celebration of the
50th year of its founding.
Workshops and study sessions
on all phases of Hadassah’s ac
tivities will be held throughout
Monday and Tuesday morning.
The closing luncheon is slated
for 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 20,
when there will be the installation
of Southeastern Region officers
and the presentation of awards, in
cluding the coveted Chapter of the
Year Award.
Mrs. Melvin Kruger of Macon
is regional president and the
regional conference co-chairmen
are Mrs. Warren Alifeld and Mrs.
Fritz Ellman of Atlanta.
Mrs. Saul Hersch is Jackson
ville Conference Chairman and
Mrs. A. J. Bloom is Jacksonville
Chapter president.
Based on the Disraeli quotation,
the Conference theme is: “The
past is for wisdom, the present is
for action, but for joy . . . the
future."
Lisa Shavin of Atlanta, are living
in Tucson with their two children,
Heather and Ross.

University of Georgia in Athens,
has been elected to Phi Beta Kap
pa honorary scholastic society.
Kass is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Cohen of Atlanta. His
mother is the former Sarabel Kass
of Thomaston.

Miami BBYO Council
The 24 chapters comprising the
Greater Miami BBYO Council
have memorialized one of their
members by establishing a shelf of
books of teenage interest at the
library of the Central Agency for
Jewish Education in Miami.
The new works of fiction and
non-viction representing a cross
section of current American
Jewish concerns were contributed
in memory of Michael A. Coplon,
president of his AZA Chapter,
who was accidentally killed two
years ago.
Girt Bossak, assistant director
of Greater Miami Council BBYO
and formerly from Atlanta, super-,
vised the project.
