The recently chartered
Bicentennial Post 976, Jewish
War Veterans of the U.S.A.,
elected its officers for the year at
a brunch meeting held in the
Community Room of Parkaire
Mall, Marietta.
Those elected to serve are
Claire K. Gelband, commander;
Richard Goldberg, senior vice
commander; Theodore Kaplan,
junior vice commander; Leo
Karel, quartermaster; Rodney
Margolis, adjutant; Dr. Phillip
Gertler, post surgeon; Arthur
Hocmick, officer of the day;
Robert E. Lee Sherman,
chaplain; and trustees Sylvia
Esserman, Milton Lombard, and
Lt. Col. (ret) Arnold Sokol.
The post plans to sponsor a
free glaucoma, blood pressure
and diabetes detection clinic in
Marietta in June. Time, date and
location will be announced
shortly.

The Southern Chapter of
DeWitt Clinton Alumni Assn,
will have its fifth annual awards
banquet on Saturday, May 8, at
the Diplomat Restaurant.
A cash bar from 6:15 until 7:30
p.m. will be followed by dinner
at 7:45 p.m. Presentation of the
Men of the Year awards and
local and college scholarships
will be followed by entertain
ment and dancing.
Cost is $12.50 a person with

A special ceremony for
“Golden” graduates, those who
graduated in 1926, will be held.
WSB Radio Plans
Jewish Music
A program of popular Jewish
music will be broadcast at 10:30
p.m. Sunday, May 2, and Sun
day, May 9, over WSB Radio.
The special program is being
presented in conjunction with
Interfaith Broadcasters.
Rabbi Herbert Cohen of
Congregation Beth Jacob will
give explanation of the melodies.
Judy Frankel will give her views
on current Jewish music.

Richard Goldberg, a Vietnam
veteran of the Air Corps, is in
private industry in Atlanta.
Theodore Kaplan is a veteran of
the U.S. Army, as is quarter
master Leo Karel. Rodney
Margolis is a Vietnam veteran of
the Air Corps who is now study
ing for a career as a Cantor.
An installation dinner is being
planned for May. All Jewish war
veteran* are invited to join the
new'o# post of th&Moldest
Veterans organization in the
United States.

Women’s American ORT,
North Suburban Chapter, in
vites the community to attend
its third annual Arts and Crafts
Festival on May 1 and 2 at Ham
mond Park in Sandy Springs.
Featured will be the works of
artists and .craftpersons who
will be selling macrame, bread
dough art, graphics, handmade
jewelry, pottery, knitted and
crocheted items, dried flowers,
and more.
Hours of the festival will be
from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on
Saturday. May 1, and U a.m. to

The Festival will be held the
following weekend in Hammond
