theater party
Over 100 members and guests
of Congregation Etz Chaim en
joyed a midnight breakfast with
stars Don Murray and Loretta
Swit after the February 26 per
formance of “Same Time, Next
Year,” at the Peachtree
Playhouse. Chairmen of the
theater party were Jane and
Chuck Goodman.
Or VeShalom
Rabbi and Mrs. Robert Ichay
will lead a group of Congrega
tion Or VeShalom members on
the synagogue’s first tour of
Israel this spring.
Around 40 persons are ex
pected to join the Ichays for the
tour, which will include three
days visiting the Isle of Rhodes.
The Isle of Rhodes has special
significance to members of the
Sephardic synagogue, since
many of them or their parents
came from there. A six-hour
tour of Athens Greece, will also
be on the Itinerary.
In Israel, the group wil spend
five ntghts in Jerusalem, one
night on a kibbutz in the Galilee,
one night in Haifa and three
nights in Tel Aviv.

Young Professionals
The role of women in Judaism
will be highlighted in a three-
part series presented by the
Young Professionals section of
National Council of Jewish
Women. The first program in
the series will be held at 8:30
p.m. Monday, Mar. 14, at the
AJCC.
Rabbi Shlomo Bluming will
address the role of women in
Orthodox Judaism, followed by
questions and answers.
The role of women in Conser
vative Judaism, planned for
April 11, will be presented by
Rabbi David H. Auerbach. The
role of women in Reform
Judaism on May 12 will be
presented by a female rabbinical
student from Hebrew Union
College.
Pioneer Women
Pioneer Women Club 1 will
hold its “Purim Luncheon” at
noon Thursday, Mar. 17, at Tem
po Royale Apartment
Clubhouse, 3691 Buford Hwy.
Mrs. Isaac Goodfriend's topic
will be humorous Yiddish
reading and story-telling.

Lenox Chapter of ORT will
have a luncheon meeting at 11:45
a.m. Tuesday, Mar. 15, in the
AJCC teen lounge.
Leonard Kramish, education
director at the Temple, will
speak on the topic, “People of the
Bible Were Persons Too.”
Chattahoochee
Chattahoochee Chapter of
Women's American ORT has an
nounced two up-coming ac
tivities, a Chinese Auction and a
/progressive dinner.
' The auction will be held at 8
p.m. Wednesday, Mar. 16, at the
Parkaire Mall meeting room.
Proceeds will help support the
Health Project. For information

A progressive dinner will be
held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Mar.
19. Proceeds of the dinner will go
to ORTs School Building Project
which provides funds for the
construction of new ORT
schools, classrooms, laboratories

North Atlanta chapter,
Women’s American ORT, will
hold its monthly study group
meeting at 7:30 p.m. Sunday,
Mar. 13, at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Leff, 1309 Witham
Dr., Dunwoody. Stuart
Lewengrub of the Anti-
Defamation League will speak.
The group's regular meeting
will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
Mar. 15, at the Occupational
Education Center, 1995 Womack
Rd., Dunwoody (off Tillie Mill
Rd.). A guest speaker will dis
cuss horticulture.
Members are invited to bring
sick plants and get some healthy
advice. Lunch at a member’s
home will follow the meeting.

Three films will be presented
by the Temple at 8:15 p.m. Mon
days beginning March 14 and
continuing through March 28.
The first film, “Bless the
Beasts and Children,” will be
shown March 14. It is not con
sidered suitable for pre
teenagers.
“I Never Sang for My Father”
will be presented March 21.
Nominated for three academy
awards, it stars Melvyn Douglas,
Gene Hackman and Estelle Par
sons.
The third film, to be shown
March 28, is “The Pawnbroker,”
portrait of a man who survived a
Nazi concentration camp, only to
encounter further horrors in
Harlem-. Rod Steiger won an
Oscar for his performance*
Temple Sisterhood
v- Temple Sisterhood’s 30th an
nual donor luncheon and fashion
show will begin with a buffet at
11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 16,
at the Midnight Sun Dinner
Theatre.
A fashion show at 12:45 p.m.
will be followed by the theatre’s
presentation of “Barefoot in the
Park,” starring Myrna Loy and
Jean-Pierre Aumont.
This is the only msgor fund
raising event sponsored by
Sisterhood. Monies raised are
used to support pre-school and
religious school activities, Oneg
Shabbot, service to the blind,
Temple Youth Group, and
Sisterhood Day activities.
Free parking is available at
the Peach tree-Cain Garage.,

Mizrachi Women
Mrs. Manuel Levine, president
of the Atlanta Chapter of
Mizrachi Women has announced
plans for the annual Mother-
Daughter Luncheon to be held
on Monday, Mar. 14, at 1 p.m. at
the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Special recognition will be
given to the “Mothers-In-Israel"
and a new Mizrachi film, “Day
by Day,” will be shown.
A skit, “All I Got Was Words”
will be presented by Rita Levine,
Lillian Galler, Sadye Spivak and
Rebecca Caccavalle.
Members are also asked to
bring in their Mizrachi “Zeda-
kah” boxes. Reservations and
