Featured will be Shula Chen, noted Israeli enter tainer, singer and musical com edy star. In addition to Miss Chen, Con sul General Nahum Astar will bring greetings on the occasion of Israel’s 29th anniversary. A special cantata, performed by the joint choruses of the Hebrew Academy and the Epstein School, will be presented along with a dance presentation by the Miller Family Dancers. A reception will conclude the evening, during which time all guests will be invited to join in a lively round of informal Israeli dancing. A major event, open to the en tire community and for people of all ages, will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at the Atlanta Jewish Com munity Center. Called “Passport to Iarael,” this all-day festival sponsored by the AJOCy features an Israeli Stipend (super market), selling canned and packaged Israeli products; Dizengoff Street, with an Israeli cafe offering authentic foods such as felafel, pita, and the like; and an arts colony patterned after that at Safad, with demonstrations of Israeli art forms. In a special radio announcement Rabin said he accepted full responsibility for the joint offense. Rabin heads a caretaker government which cannot resign and must serve until the next general elections May 17. Shimon Peres won enthusiastic and near un animous approval by the Labor Party to head its list in the May 17 elections and become Premier if Labor forms the next Israeli government. Peres, 54, who is presently Defense Minister, was acclaimed the new leader by 790 of the 816 members of the Labor Party’s Central Committee. Only eight negative votes were cast and 18 members abstained. Premier Rabin will be fined administratively by the Treasury authorities the equivalent of $1,500 for his part that the Kabins held two ac counts in Washington con taining $10,000, not $2,000 as Mrs. Rabin had claimed. Mrs. Rabin closed the account some weeks after a newsman discovered its existence. At the time she said there was $2,000 in it, deposited while Rabin was Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter enjoy Passover seder at Lipshutz home WASHINGTON (JTA) - President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter participated in a tradi tional seder on the first night of Passover April 2 at the Washington apartment of his close friend and counsel, Atlanta lawyer Robert Lipshutz and Mrs. Lipshutz. Lipshutz, who was president for three yean of the Temple, a Reform congregation in Atlanta formed two yean after the Civil War ended, led the service. The Union of American Hebrew Congregation’s Haggadahs which have been in the Lipshutz family for yean, were used. Both the President and Mn. Carter read from them at the service. The usual symbols of the Passover seder were observed. It is believed to have been the President’s first seder. Mn. Carter, however, had attended a seder previously, at least once. At the dinner, which lasted more than two hours, were Lipshutz’s daughter, Judy, and a stepson, Bobby Rosenberg; a cousin Andy Marks, who is a Washington lawyer; Joyce Starr of the White House staff; and Robbie Altschuler, of Boston, a Georgetown Univenity foreign service school student who is the son of Mn. Harriett Altschuler Zimmerman of Atlanta. Both Dr. Starr and Mrs. Zimmerman served in the President’s election campaign headquarten in Atlanta. that as far as it was Known, there were no deposits into the acount since the Rabins left Washington in 1973, only withdrawals.
