AJWF hosts couples retreat

The Cultural Arts Depart
ment of the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center Is accepting
applications for its adult classes
to be offered in October Monday
through Thursday evenings.
Classes will include advanced
and beginner painting and
ceramics, including wheel and
handbuilding. Special classes in
crafts and oil and acrylic pain
ting will be available to senior
citixens.
The Center will also offer a
series of children’s cultural art
classes for a period of eight to
ten weeks beginning in October.
The courses will include a
puppet class, tools for tots,
woodworking, ceramics and mix
ed madia, featuring work with a
variety of materials.

The Atlanta Region of
Women's ORT will sponsor its
annual art auction benefitting
its scholarship project, Satur
day, Sept. 24, at the Standard
Club, with a preview from 8:00
to 9:00 p.m. and the auction
beginning at 9*0 p.m.
The show will continue on
Sunday, Sept 26, with a preview
from 12*0 to 1:00 p.m. and the
auction beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The gallery will feature a
variety of art mediums in
cluding oils, lithographs, con
temporary and traditional.
Available for bidding will he
works by Chagall, Miro, Calder,
Picasso, and several new artists.
A raffle for a painting will
take place each day. Admission
is free of charge with a cash bar

David Meros has been named
director of the Israel Aliyah
Center for the Southeast A
Jerusalem-born Sabka, More*
has, ainee 1968, bora head of the
special treatment section for
Youth Aliyah children in Israel,
and haa taught social work
treatment methods at Tel Aviv
University. He had previously
worked as a psychiatric social
worker for the Ministry of
Health and taught social worit in
the Kenya-Israel School of
Social Work near Nairobi.
From his office in Miami, Mr.
Meros will serve the states of
Florida, Alabama, Georgia and
South Carolina, offering infor
mation and guidance on
educational, business, and per
sonal opportunities for life in
Israel.
