Mollie Firestone is new head of
Jewish Home Volunteer Corps
The Jewish Home Volunteer Service corps has elected Mollie
Firestone as its president for the coming year.
Following research and correspondence with Jewish Homes
throughout the country, Denis Duncan, director of volunteer services,
and Irene Becker, chairman of the reorganization committee, organized a
committee which worked throughout the summer in restructuring short
and long term goals of the volunteer services.
Under the leadership of former chairman of volunteers Esther
Friedman, the corps became highly recognized throughout the city. The
group has received numerous awards including the Hadassah Myrtle
Wreath Award and the RSVP Award for outstanding service to older
people. Volunteer Bess Harris was chosen this year’s “Poster Woman"
for Volunteer Atlanta.

The group will hold a roller

The fifth through seventh
graders of the congregation’s
Kadima chapter will meet at 12:30
p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.
Registrations are now being taken
for the chapter’s Orlando trip, Feb.
23-26, which includes a Shabbat
convention at Temple Israel in
Orlando and a day at Disney-
world.

Lenox ORT will host a mini
luncheon and Hanuka (tarty
featuring its own production of
“This Is Your Life" at 12 noon

Community Room of Sears in
Buckhead.
Hebrew Academy
Atlanta's Hebrew Academy is
sponsoring a Chinese supper and
bake sale, featuring a kosher
Oriental meal with “oysgcmatert"
egg rolls, “zaftig” meat balls and
cookie “mit mazel,” from 4 to 7
p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at the
school, 1892 N. Druid Hills Rd.
During the dinner the school’s
seventh graders will conduct a
hand made crafts sale including
items such as small stuffed items
and macrame hanging plant
holders. Proceeds from the sale
will benefit the class’s “Mitzva
Week" project in March designed
to show the ease of doing a mitzva.

Atlanta Lodge B’nai B’rith
Atlanta Lodge B’nai B’rith will
host a luncheon featuring guest
speaker Zeke Segal, manager of
CBS News, Atlanta Bureau, at
11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at
the Progressive Club.
Segal was involved with CBS
News coverage of the Gemini and
Apollo manned space flights and
was producer of the remote
coverage of Campaign ’68 and
Campaign ’72. He is presently
president of the Atlanta Press
Club.
The luncheon will include the
drawing for the lodge’s annual
raffle.

Council of Jewish Women’s recent special showing of the Artnand
Hammer Collection at the High Museum were Atlanta section

The Atlanta Bureau of Jewish
Education will sponsor a three-
session folk dance workshop
featuring guest instructor Yaakov
Eden on Saturday, Dec. 17, from
7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday,
Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. to I p.m. and
from 3 p.m to 5 p.m, at the
Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Eden is professor of dance at
Ball State University in Indiana
and was a dance instructor at Blue
Star Israeli Folk Dance Camp this
past summer. Eden will emphasize
requests by participants as well as
lesser known repertoire, both old
and new.
Coordinator of the workshop is
folk dance instructor Vivian
