Eizenstat to address JNF tribute dinner
Stuart E. Eizenstat, currently
advisor to the President of the
United States on Domestic Affairs
and Policy, will be guest speaker at
the May 2 Jewish National Fund
Tribute dinner to Cantor Isaac and
Bettv Goodfriend.
He is quoted as being
“indispensable in the formulation
of domestic policy” and the March
20 issue of Business Week
featured Eizenstat on the cover as
“The Power Behind Domestic
Policy ”
Eizenstat has had the attention
of the Atlanta community for
years prior to his active
participation in the Democratic
Bat Ami Hadassah
Bat Ami Hadassah will hold its
closing dinner meeting and
installation banquet on Sunday,
April 30, at 6 p.m. at Beth Jacob
Synagogue.
Mrs. Charles Weiner, a National
Associate of Hadassah and a life
Board Member, will install the new
officers and will speak on her
recent trip to the World Zionist
Congress.
The evening will include a
musical program by the “Three
Jills and a Jack," made up of
Missie Milstein, Helayne Minsk,
Deborah Goldberg, and Eric
Minsk.
Highlighting the evening will be
a special tribute to the late Mrs.
Robert (Bert) Travis, who initiated
Atlanta's Business and Profess
ional Group of Hadassah, Bat
Ami.
AJCC Couples Club
The AJCC Couples Club, for
, couples of all ages, will host a
Bingo and Dessert Feast Saturday,
May 6, at 8 p.m., at Rosalie and
Elliot’s house. The evening will
feature a variety of homemade
desserts.

B’nai B’rith Women
B’nai B’rith Women will hold its
Third Annual Southeastern
Regional Conference Sunday,
May 7 through Tuesday, May 9 at
the Sheraton Mountain Brook
Inn, Birmingham, Ala. The theme
of the conference will be “Ani Po—
1 Am.”
Keynote speaker for the event
will be Mrs. Lil Holstein, past
BBW International president. For
four years, she was National
Leadership chairwoman and she
served as BBW vice president and
national chairwoman of the
Membership Cabinet from 1965 to
1971.
Among the speakers will be Dr.
Mark Elovitz and Karl Friedman,
at the meetings on Monday, May
8.
Louise Kopp is chairman of the
Southeastern Regional Board.
Elaine Royal and Dolly Staff are
conference co-chairpersons.
The closing meeting and
installation of the Women’s
Committee of Temple Sinai will be
held on Monday, May 8,at 11 a.m.
at Temple Sinai.
A fashion show will be presented

Atlanta Bureau of Jewish
Education's religious and high
schools have this year been
engaged in intensive, serious
Torah study preparing to
participate in the National Bible
Contest, sponsored annually by
the Department of Education and
Culture of the World Zionist
Organization.
The oral District Contest will be
held on Sunday, April 30, at 11
a.m. at the Hebrew Academy, 1892
N. Druid Hills Road N.E.
On the occasion of Israel’s
thirtieth anniversary, students will
answer detailed Biblical questions
based on their study of the books
of Genesis, Joshua, Ezra, and
Nehemiah.
Students who excell in the
written and oral District Finals
will be able to compete in the
National Finals in New York in
May.
The oral finals are open to the
community.

Milton Weinstein has been
named honorary chairman of the
1978 Israel Bond “Man of the
Year” dinner which will honor
M.C. (Mike) Gettinger on May 24
at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in
Atlanta.
Weinstein, recently retired as
chairman of the board of National
Service Industries, has been
involved in almost every major
communal effort for many years.
He is a past president and past
campaign chairman of the Atlanta
Jewish Welfare Federation and
past president of the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center.
Serving with Weinstein are Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Cohen, dinner hosts;
Mrs. Sidney Cavalier, chairman of
reservations and arrangements;
and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney
Feldman, chairman of the patron
hosts.
Atlanta rabbis are serving as
honorary co-chairmen of the
dinner
