Israeli officers plan Entebbe action in scene from “Operation
Thunderbolt.”
Atlanta to host premiere showing of
Entebbe film “Operation Thunderbolt”
A one-day-only premiere
showing of the widely aclaimed
feature film “Operation
Thunderbolt,” the Israeli
version of the Entebbe event
will be sponsored by the
Hebrew Academy/Yeshiva
High School on Thursday, May
II, at Loew's Tara II Theatre.
Showtimes will be at 7 p.m. and
9:15 p.m.
The benefit premiere is being
shown in conjunction with the
Atlanta Jewish Community’s
week long celebration. May 7-
14, of the 30th anniversary of
the State of Israel.
“Operation Thunderbolt,"
The newly formed Simcha
Hadassah group will hold its first
membership coffee at 8 p.m.
Wednesday, May 3, at the home of
Mrs. Esther Ben Yaacov, 2899
Greenbush Place, N.E.
Geared primarily to women ages
30 and up, the group will meet
mainly during the day, in the
northeast area of Atlanta.

Stone Mountain ORT
The Stone Mountain chapter of
Women’s American ORT will hold
it's second annual card and game
night on Wednesday, May 10, at 7
p.m., at Kristopher Woods
Clubhouse.

“Operation Thunderbolt”
features in its cast Israeli actor
Assaf Dayan, son of Israel
Defense Minister Moshe
Dayan.

Mrs. Tamar Eshel, a member of
Israel’s Knesset who previously
represented Israel in seven General
Assemblies of the United Nations,
will speak at a community-wide
forum at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4,
at the Atlanta Jewish Community
Center.
Mrs. Eshel’s appearance is the
second program in the AJCC’s “In
Focus” series which updates the
community on topical events. It is
sponsored by the adult services
committee of the Center.
A member of a family which
came to Israel almost a century
ago, Mrs. Eshel grew up in Haifa
and later studied Arabic and
Middle-East Affairs at the
University of London. During
World War II, she served with the
Education Corps of the British
Army in the Western Desert and in
1948 was active in the Haganah.
As a member of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, she is a member of
the Permanent Mission to the
United Nations; a delegate to the
World Health Organization
Assembly and to the Human
Rights Commission; chairman of
the U.N. Commission on the
Status of Women. In addition to
serving in the Knesset, to which she
was elected in 1977, Mrs. Eshel is a
member of the Jerusalem
Municipal Council and of the
executive committee of the
Histadrut.

The Atlanta Hillel Federation,
in celebration of Israel's 30th
Anniversary, will bring to Atlanta
Israeli singer Ron Eliron in a
special concert at 7:30 p.m.,
Monday, May 8, at the Emory
Medical Administration Building
Auditorium, Clifton and Haygood
Roads.
Eliron, known as “Israel’s
Ambassador of Song,” will appear
on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show
on NBC-TV Friday, May 5. Eliron
has recorded number one albums
throughout Europe and Israel and
is co-author of the Israeli hit song
“Sharm El Sheik,” written during
the 1976 and Yom Kippur Wars.
The evening will include free
felafel and other refreshments and
Israeli dancing.

American ORT, will hold its
annual Installation of officers and
Presidents’ Appreciation, Monday
May 1, at 7:30 p.m., at Beth Jacob
Synagogue.

to preside as installing officer.
Golden Circle honors and

Memorial to Six Million
The Holocaust Committee of
the Atlanta Jewish Welfare
Federation and Eternal Life-
Hemshech Organization of
Survivors of the Holocaust will
sponsor a community-wide
Memorial Service for the Six
Million on Sunday, May 7, at 2
p.m., at the Tombstone
Monument, Greenwood Cem
etery.
Special guest will be Jeanne
Daman-Scaglione, recipient of the
Yad Vashem medal of the
Government of Israel, awarded to
heroic non-Jews who have saved
Jewish lives at the risk of their
own.
The ceremony will honor and
perpetuate the memory of the six
million Jewish brethren who
perished during the second World
War.

Sherry and Leonard Frank and
their four children on

Ahavath Achim Synagogue.
The Franks will be moving to
Memphis, Tenn. in June.
Sherry and Leonard Frank,
who have both served as PTA
presidents of the Epstein
School, have been described by
school Headmaster Rabbi Zvi
Shapiro as "dedicated, dynamic
leaders, who inspire confidence
in everyone they work with."
Rabbi Shapiro said, “The
Epstein School family will miss
the entire family."
In addition to the Franks’
school activities together,
Sherry Frank has participated
in a number of other Jewish
community activities including
recently coordinating the
International Council of Jewish
Women Convention taking
place in Atlanta in May. She
was awarded the Young
Leadership Award by the
Atlanta Jewish Welfare
Federation and has served on
the Federation’s Soviet Jewry
Committee, organizing protest
marches and personally helping

District officer of NCJW, Mrs.
Frank is also a member of the
board of the Jewish Family and
Children’s bureau and has
