Rothfarb to head District VI ORT
Ruth Rothfarb of Atlanta
was installed president of
District VI of Women’s
American ORT at its recent
annual convention in Orlando,
Fla.
The 20,000 member district
encompasses Florida, Georgia,
Alabama, Mississippi,
Louisiana, North Carolina,
South Carolina, Tennessee and
Kentucky.
The immediate past
chairman of the district’s
executive committee, Mrs.
Rothfarb is a recipient of the
Atlanta Region of ORTs
Golden Circle award. She was
the first president of the Atlanta
Region ORT and has served as
chairman of Shalom Atlanta
and vice president of the
Women’s Division of the
Atlanta Jewish Welfare
Federation.
During her 18 years of service
to ORT Mrs. Rothfarb has
served oh every echelon of
organization including chapter
president. National Executive
Committee member, and as
Southern Field Service
Ruth Rothfarb
chairman, when she was
instrumental in forming
13 Women’s American
ORT chapters throughout the
South.
Members from the Atlanta
Community who will be serving
as vice presidents of the District
are Lynda Weissman, Ann
Galanti and Marcia Marx.

Kehillah Lodge of B'nai B’rith
will hold its monthly meeting on
Thursday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m., at
the Western Sizzler in Buckhead.
At the District 5 B’nai B’rith
convention, Bemie Eisenstein, co
founder of the Kehillah Klowns,
was awarded for outstanding
community volunteer service.
Robert Shuman was also awarded
the Outstanding President Award
for the District. The Lodge was
nominated to represent the 5th
District for the Sidney Kussworm
award for its many community
service projects.
Upcoming Kehillah events
include a tennis outing on Sunday,
July 16 at the Atlanta Jewish
Community Center and the annual
Six Flags outing for retarded
citizens on July 30.

Jewish Home Tower
The Jewish Home Tower, which
is continuing to accept
applications for apartment
rentals in the high rtse, has
specified several eligibility
requirements.
The requirements include that
applicants must be minimum age
62 (if married couple, only one
spouse need be 62). There is no
minimum age for the handicapped.
The Tower provides equal housing
opportunity.
Apartment assignments are
made immediately upon receipt of
the application and subsequent
interview. There are no residency
requirements, and eligibility is
open to persons presently living in
other parts of the country.
Apartments are available to all,
regardless of amount of income.
For individuals whose incomes are
limited, rental assistance can be
obtained.

ABJE Library
The Library of the Atlanta
Bureau of Jewish Education offers
several new acquisitions for
summer reading. Located in the
Federation Building, 1743
Peachtree Road, N.E., the Library
is open to the public, from 9 a.m. to

and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on
Friday.

conduct the installation and
charter signing ceremonies at
which her daughter Marcia
Sternberg will become the first
president of the new group.

Hadassah receives eye research grant
