ition, to take place in Aruba.
Joel Gross, director of the
AJCC-AJECOMCE Day Camp
and city director of Hashachar,
and Jenat Feldman, program
director of Camp Barney Medintz
and director of the AJCC Adult
Services, have been admitted to the
Academy of Certified Social
Workers. Admittance to the
Academy requires a masters
degree in social work followed by
two years of service in the field.
Applicants must then pass a
written examination and an oral
screening by a committee
appointed by the Academy.

Mrs. Simon S. Selig Jr. of
Atlanta has been elected to the
board of directors of Georgia
Opera. Charles M. Rafshoon is
first vice president of the
organization.
The Bar Mitzva of Brett Holden
Steinberger will take place at 10:30
a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at Temple
Sinai. Brett is the son of Ms. Rita
Steinberger of Roswell and
Norman Steinberger of Charlotte,
N.C. His grandparents are Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Jackaway of Lake
Placid, Fla., and Mr. and Mrs.
Milton Steinberger of Statesville,
N.C.

Steve Newfield, Bob Lifshey and
Paul Cohen, principals of Atlanta
specialty advertising firm Philip
Philip Mitchell Advertising, Inc.
were in New York recently to
accept an award from the
International CLIO awards
committee. The award was given
for outstanding achievement in the
field of specialty advertising for
trade promotion work on the
Virgin Islands Film Festival.

Keith Jay Reisman, son of Dr.
Edward D. Reisman and Mrs. Lila
Reisman of Atlanta, received a
bachelor of arts degree from
Northwestern University,
Evanston, III.
Reisman was formerly a
member of the Carter Campaign
Committee and a member of the
White House Staff. In September,
he returned to Northwestern to
complete his degree. He carried a
double major in political science
and radio, television and film
production. He is presently a
teaching assistant in television and
radio direction while pursuing his
masters degree in radio, television
and film production at
Northwestern.
Ralph M. Birnberg, assistant
director of the Jewish Home,
recently passed the National
Nursing Home Administrators
Board Examination and is now
licensed to practice nursing home
administration in the state of
Georgia.
Max M. Fiaber, chairman of the Board of the Jewish Agency,
greets hkse Minister Menachem Begin during the Jewish Agency
Assembly. Delegates to the Assembly represented 30 countries
including the United States. Tbe Assembly adopted Project
Renewal—a massive effort by world Jewry and tbe people of Israel
to renew tbe lives of 45.8M families living in distress, tbe remnants
of tbe absorption process who were never fully integrated into
IsracR society.
California Governor Jerry Brown goes from Jesuit to a taste of
Judaism as be is raised on a chair during the 50th anniversary
celebration of the world famous orthodox congregation Beth
Jacob Synagogue in Beverly Hills.

Joel Goldberg, chairman of the
board of Rich's Department Store
and former president of the
Atlanta Chamber of Commerce,
was installed as president of the
Atlanta Chapter of the
' Association of the U.S. Army at
the chapter’s annual meeting at the
Fort McPherson Officers Club.

Mai J. Bricks of Alanta was
recently awarded his third masters
degree, a master of governmental
administration from Georgia State
University. He also holds an MBA
in management from Georgia
State and bachelors and masters
degrees in civil engineering from
Northwestern University in
Boston. Bricks is a vice president
of Southern Line Cleaning, Inc.
and a registered professional
engineer in ten states including
Georgia. He is a member of
Kehillah Lodge, B'nai B’rith.
Bricks and his wife, the former
Holley Ellen Sloan of Atlanta, live
in Sandy Springs.

Savannah weightlifter Mike
Cohen had good news and bad
news during the recent U.S. Men’s
Senior Nationals. Cohen set a
snatch record of 297 lbs. but later,
trying for a record in the clean and
jerk, he lost the meet after a slip,
followed by an illegal move. Cohen
will be competing soon at the
World Junior meet in Greece.

Jewish golfer Marty Fleckman
shot a spectacular 66 on the final
day of the Western Open and
wound up with a 10th place finish.
It was the Texan's best PGA gffort
in a long while.

Dr. and Mrs. Stanley M.
Fineman have returned to the
Atlanta area after Dr. Fineman
completed a three year residency in
pediatrics at Cincinnati Children's
Hospital and a two year sub
specialty fellowship in allergy and
clinical immunology at the
Harvard University School of
Medicine in Boston. They have
estalished residence in Marietta
where Dr. Fineman has set up his
private practice. He is the son of
Dr. and Mrs. Manuel N. Fineman
of Atlanta.

Nancy and Allan Topolsky,
formerly of Atlanta, announce the
birth of their son, Uri Shimshon
(Uri Samuel) on June 23 in
Phoenix, Ariz. Grandparents are
Ann and A1 Thomas of Canton,
Mass. The bris was performed by
Dr. Mark Gross and Rabbi
Herbert Silberman of Phoenix.

son, Binyamin Baruch, on July 7.
