My wallet is full of phone
numbers, bills, laundry tickets and
receipts, but no money. My
checkbook gets sympathy cards
from the bank. My piggy bank is
stuffed with IOUs. And it seems
that everything I like to do costs
money, as my mother says. Now if
it all cost candy wrappers, I’d be
flush. However, through the lean
years (since graduation) I have
researched those things you can do
or see for little or no, repeat no,
money. Check the newspapers and
our What’s Happening calendar;
you’ll be surprised at how busy you
could be without going broke!
Here are a few ideas:
1) The zoo (great when the
weather’s good and you can have a
picnic there).
2) The museum (generally free,
although some exhibits charge for
admission).
3) Art galleries (in every section
of town, almost always free, and if
you go to the opening you can
usually meet the artist). The AJCC
usually has an exhibition in the
lobby.
4) Synagogue tour (some of the
best examples of architecfure in
the city).
(In Cheshire Square)
open 7 days week
Lunch 11:30 a.m-2:30 p.m.
Dinner 6:30 p.m.-ll:30 p.m.
5) Roller skating (cost less than a
movie and you can go alone, on a
date, or with friends).
6) Volunteer (to visit the Jewish
Home for example).
7) Play ping pong, racquet ball,
pool or go swimming at the Center.
8) Visit the Atlanta Historical
Society (“Image of Polish Jewry:
Arts and Culture.” Feb. 11-March
8).
