The Atlanta Hillel-Federation
will present the internationally
acclaimed Diaspora Yeshiva Band
at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, in
the student center auditorium at
Emory University.
Formed in 1975, this Israeli rock
group has performed in five
television shows and produced two
albums. The group took first place
in this year's 1978 Chassidic Song
Festival, performing a song by
Reuven Sorotkin “Malchutcha,"
which appears on the Tenth
Chassidic Song Festival album.
The Diaspora Yeshiva Band is
made up of experienced musicians
from America, who have come to
study Torah at the Diaspora
Yeshiva over the past eight years,
and who have combined their
musical expertise and inspiration
to produce the most authentic
Jewish rock performed today.

Tower residents
The B'nai B'rith family-men,
women and youth groups—are
having a welcome party for all the
residents of the new Jewish Tower
at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, in
the Tower recreation room.
There will be a movie tour of
Israel, refreshments, and
conversation. Everyone is invited.
Pioneer Women
celebrate Tu B’Shevat
Pioneer Women Club I will hold
its annual tea celebrating Tu
B’Shevat at I p.m., Wednesday,
Feb. 14, at the Jewish Towers,
3160 Howell Mill Rd, N.W.
The Jewish National Fund will
show a film from Israel,
“Rhapsody in Green.” Members
are asked to bring their blue boxes.

Clay and camera
classes offered
Beginning in February, children
aged seven to 12 may enroll in a
three week intensive program in
ceramics or photography at the
Atlanta Jewish Community
Center. The classes, all held on
Sundays, will meet from 2 to 4 p.m.
In ceramics, the child will
how to handbuild and how to use
the potter’s wheel.
In photography, the child will
learn how to use the camera, how
to develop and how to print Film.

B’nai B’rith Women
forms new chapter
The B’nai B’rith Women’
organization is forming a new
chapter for mature business,
professional and executive
women.
The first meeting will be a
brunch at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb.
18, at the home of Louise Kopp.

Mizrachi Women
hold tree tea
The Atlanta Chapter of
Mizrachi Women’s will have “Tree
Tea” at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12,
in the new offices of the Jewish
National Fund in Piedmont
Center. ,
This tea is held in honor of Tu
B’Shevat the day on which major
tree planting takes place in Israel.
The Mizrachi Women’s organiza
tion is closely identified with the
State of Israel and does an
important job in its growth and
development.
Featured at the meeting will be
Michael Tidhar, Jerusalem
emissary and director of the
southeastern region of the Jewish
National Fund. He will speak
about “Little Known Facts in the
Life of Menachim Begin."

Dr. Biumenthal
Congregation Etz Chaim’s adult
education program will host Dr.
David R. Biumenthal, professor of
Judaic studies at Emory , at 8:30
p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, at the
home of Bob and Paula Schwartz,

Dr. Biumenthal will speak about
“The Religious Dimension of
Judaism—Is there a specifically
religious language in Judaism, and

educational social
Dr. Kenneth W. Stem, professor
of Near Eastern history at Emory
University, writer and lecturer, will
speal* on ’’Israel and her
Neighbors: Strategy of the
Negotiations” at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Chuck Lowenstein at 8
p.m.. Saturday, Feb. 24, for
Simcha Hadassah’s educational
social.
The event is open to the
community as well as members,
their husbands, and guests.

AJCC school of music
forms classes
The School of Music of the
Atlanta Jewish Community
Center is now forming classes in
Beginning Recorder, Beginning
Percussion, Beginning Wind 1 and
II, Exploring Families of
Instruments, Suzuki Violin,
Musical ladders. Building Blocks
of Music, Ensemble Class and
Materials for Music I and 11.
Classes are for adults and
children and are offered in a
variety of locations throughout the
city.
Private lessons in all orchestral
instruments are available as well.

Atlanta BBYO
Before the movie, before the TV
show, there was the play:
M.A.S.H., which made America
laugh and cry at one of
humankind's oldest habits—war.
M.A.S.H., with such unforget
table characters as Hawkeye
Pearce, Trapper John, Colonel
Henry Blake and Margaret
“Hotlips” Houlihan, will be
brought to life on stage at 8:30
p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, at the
AJCC in a special benefit
performance sponsored by the
B’nai B'rith Youth Organization
Adult Board.
The play is part of activities
commemorating the B'nai B’rith
Girls Golden Anniversary. All
proceeds from the performance go
to the Atlanta Council BBYO and
there will be a special ceremony
during intermission in honor of the
occasion. The actors and actresses
will all be members of the various
BBYO chapters in the Atlanta
area.
Purchase of a ticket entitles the
holder to be in a special drawing
for prizes.
Ticket prices are: Students,
$3.00 (eligible for selected prizes);
