Mantler, executive director of the NAWCAS (National Association of Women’s and Children’s Apparel Salesmen) Guild, has been designated by the State of Israel to receive its coveted “Peace Award,” the Lion of Judah Medallion, in cooperation with the Atlanta State of Israel Bonds Committee. The presentation will take place at a dinner in Mantler’s honor on Sunday evening, Aug. 12, at the Peachtree Plaza Hotel. A reception at 6:30 p.m. will be hosted by Southeastern Travelers Exhibitors, followed by dinner at 7:30. Rep. Elliott Levitas (Fourth Dist.-Ga.) will be the guest speaker at the dinner. Comedian Larry Marshall Mantler Dorn will provide entertainment. Chairman of the event is Leonard Schechter, with Robert L. Dreyer, Bob Maran, Milton Crane, Stanley D. Goldstein and Bernie Schmerler serving as co- chairmen. Mantler, a familiar figure in the apparel industry, has coordinated joint policy matters for 20,000 wholesale apparel salesmen for over 30 years. He has been a strong supporter of Israel’s economic development as a sister democracy.
