executive committee meeting at

The Post will honor its most
outstanding committee, the
Veterans Administration
Volunteer Service (VAVS) which
has never missed a mijinth of taking
out groups of hospital veterans to
sporting event or the movies

Congregation Beth Jacob will
hold its annual Patrons of
Education Dinner on Sunday,
Aug, 26, at 6:30 p.m , at the
Peachtree Plaza Hotel. The guest
speaker will be Rabbi Zalman
Posner, spiritual leader of
Congregation Sherith Israel in
Nashville
Rabbi Posner was ordained at
Lubavitcher Yeshiva in New York
He was an emissary of the late
Lubavitcher Rebbe of DP camps
in 1948. and the next year became
rabbi in Nashville where he
established the Akiva (Hebrew
Day) School,
Rabbi Posner has authored a
new book, "Think Jewish" (1979).
a view of Judaism and the
contemporary world from the
Chassidic perspective.

Dinner is an annual fund-raising
event for the total education/
youth program of Congregation
Beth Jacob.
AEPi convention
begins Aug. 15
AEPi fraternity will hold its
national convention in Atlanta
from Wednesday, Aug. 15,
through Saturday, Aug. 18, at the
Marriott Perimeter Center.
Dr. Noah Langdale, president of
Georgia State University, will give
the keynote address on Thursday
morning, Aug. 16, to open
leadership school. Dr. Langdale
also spoke at the last Atlanta
convention in 1962
Entertainment will include a
poolside barbecue on Thursday
evening and a disco party Friday
night. The awards banquet will be
held Saturday evening at the
Standard Club
The cost is $40. AEPi
undergraduates and alumni are

Augusta women
In 1946 the Women’s Divisiorcof
the United Jewish Appeal was
begun to augment the levels of
giving among the community’s
Jewish women, to strengthen
Jewish education, to give children
the chance to understand the
unique meaning of being a Jew, and
to provide a vehicle to continue the
emotiogal development needed to
grow as women, as leaders, and as
Jews.
In 1975 the Augusta Women’s
Division raised a total of $17,000
for UJA Bv 1979 that total had
grown to $46,000, more than
doubling in five years
Significantly, the money raised
came from 280 individual pledges,
out of a prospect list of 372
Augusta's 1979-80 board
includes Boots Wittenberg,
president; Marilyn Levy, first vice
president and campaign chairman;
benefits youth

The cost is $50 per person for
patron contribution and $25 per
person for supporting member
contribution. Guests will be

The Workmen’s Circle will hold

Progressive Club plans
theater party, luau
Progressive Club members have
three special events on tap for
August.
A theater party is planned for
Thursday evening, Aug. 16, with
tickets reserved for “Bubbling
Brown Sugar." A bus will leave the
club at 7:45 a m. for the Fox
Theater, returning to the club after
the performance.
On Saturday, Aug. 18. at 8 p.m.,
a luau will be held, featuring
dancing to the music of Dave
Rilkin
