B’nai B’rith distributes educational date book
B’nai B’rith Men and Women of
Atlanta are now distributing
copies of the 1979-80 Memo-Date
Book to all county and city schools
in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
Produced by the Anti-
Defamation League of B’nai
B’rith, this calendar and
educational tool is distributed
every year at this time to aid
educators and administrators
throughout America in scheduling
exams and important school
activities, and in developing
programs dealing with prejudice
reduction, m u 11 i-c u 11 u r a I
activities, and the Holocaust.
The newly expanded edition
contains descriptions of all the
major religious and national
holidays and a list of educational
aids which may be ordered
through the ADL office in Atlanta.

distributor coordinator.
Gesher Tzion IMizrachi
models Israeli fashions
Gesher Tzion Mizrachi will hold
its first meeting of the new year at 8
p m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the
home of Nancy Sigal, 1050 Burton
Road, N.E.
The program will include a
fashion show modeled by Gesher
Tzion members with clothing
made by Mizrachi students in
Israel
The public is invited to attend.

Stone Mountain ORT
begins new season
Stone Mountain ORT will begin
its J 979-80 season at 7:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the
Kristopher Woods Clubhouse in
Clarkston. A salad bar dinner will
be served.
Each member is asked to bring a
prospective member and to
contribute to the dinner.

begins new year
North Suburban ORT will open
its year with a luncheon and swim
party from 10 a nt -2 p m ,

Guest speaker Francis Patterson
will demonstrate the art of silk
flower arranging.
A donation of $2 will be

C ity of Hope plans
champagne brunch
The Atlanta Chapter of City of
Hope w ill hold its opening meeting
and champagne brunch at 11:30
a m., Tuesday, Sept. II. at the
home of Mrs. Aflred Garber, 1925
West Paces Ferry Road, N.W
The program will include a slide
show from the national medical
center narrated by a popular film
celebrity. Officers for 1979-80 will
be installed by Mrs. Harold
Weinstein, and new members will
be honored.
Donations will be $3. Door
prizes will be awarded.

Shearifh Israel has
open house
Congregation Shearith Israel
will host an open house for
prospective members from 7:30-9
p.m , Tuesday, Aug 28. at the
synagogue.
Committee chairmen will be
present to answer questions, and
children can be registered for
Hebrew school at that time.
Everyone is invited to meet the
rabbis and tour the synagogue.

Israel stamp society hosts Bick
The Atlanta Chapter, Society of
Israel Philatelists will host Israel
Bick, nationally known philatelic
expert and specialist in Israeli
stamps, at 8 p.m., Wednesday,
Aug. 29, at the AJCC.
Bick, a resident of Los Angeles,
writes a monthly column, “Israel
through Stamps." He is the
founder of Stamp Expo, a large
and prestigious philatelic
exposition in the Western U.S.
Bick will present a film-slide
show on Jewish festivals as
depicted by Israeli stamps. A
question and answer period will
follow.

Yeshiva High begins new term
A new course in computer
literacy will highlight the fall
course offerings at Yeshiva High
School, which begins its new term
on Monday, Aug. 27.
Yeshiva is one of the few high
schools in Atlanta offering a
"hands on” computer course for its
students featuring the J RS-80
microcomputer. Instructor for the
class is Sandra Cohen. She has
worked for Bell Telephone's Long
Lines Division as a computer
programmer and is presently
involved in a graduate program of
computer science at Georgia State
University.
Other new members of the
faculty include Dr. Christopher
Vasillopulos, history; Patricia
Piech, algebra; and Judy Griffith,
history.
Returning staff members
include Allen Penley, physical
science, biology and chemistry;
Barbara Rosenblit and Ruth
Kolani, English; and Fred
Coolick, history
Members of the Judaic faculty
are Rabbis Herbert Cohen, Daniel
Estreicher, Baruch Gold, and Mrs
Shlomit Aharoni
