NCJW plans volunteer workshop
The Atlanta Section, National
Council of Jewish Women will
cosponsor a one-day training
seminar for volunteer board
members and key staff personnel
of human service agencies in the
Atlanta area from 9 a m.-12:15
p.m., Tuesday, Sept. II, at
Georgia State University’s Urban
Life Center.
The purpose of the Community
Board Institute workshop is to
assist continuing, new and
prospective board members to
meet the challenges of
Perimeter ORT views
children’s festival
Perimeter ORT will have a paid-
up membership meeting at 7 p.m.,
Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the DeKalb
Federal Savings and Loan in
Dunwoody Village.
The highlight of the evening will
be a children's fashion show,
followed by a buffet dinner.

elects officers

Progressive Club plans
Labor Day events
The Progressive Club will have
its last swing of the summer with a
men's Calcutta tennis tournament
to be held over the Labor Day
weekend.
Tournament action will begin
on Friday, Aug. 31, and continue
through Monday, Sept. 3. The
entry fee of $10 a person covers
balls and refreshments.
On Saturday, Sept. 1, there will
be a party featuring dancing to the
music of Ted Arnold The cost is $8
a person and reservations are
required.
A Sunday buffet will be served
on Sept. 2, with the awards
banquet to be held at ,6:30 p.m.,
on Labor Day. An Italian dinner
will be served. The cost is $7 a
person and reservations are
required

Aviva Hadassah hosts Lou Davis
Loa Davis
Aviva Hadassah will hold its
opening meeting at 10 am.,
Thursday, Sept 6, at the Riviera
Hyatt House.
The guest speaker will be Lou
Davis, WSB’s "2 The Point"
commentator. Davis, who has
recently visited Israel, will discuss
current events there.

’finger-licking’ picnic
Peachtree ORT will hold a
“finger-licking'' picnic from 2-6
p.m., Monday, Sept. 3, at Chastain
Park
Activities will include
swimming, horseback riding,
softball, and children’s games and
prizes. A chicken dinner will be
served.

and learns
Congregation Etz Chaim will
have its opening “lunch and learn"
of the fall season from noon until I

new Atlanta post
A new Jewish War Veterans
post is being formed in the Stohe
Mountain, Lilburn, Clarkston,
and Norcross areas.
The basic requirements for
membership are that the persorf be
a veteran of the armed forces of the
U S. and Jewish, and not presently
a member of another post in
Atlanta.

B’nai B’rith Women
begin reorganization
Six new chapters of B’nai B’rith
Women will now meet the needs of
diverse groups of women in
Atlanta in response to the changes
and growing concerns in the
Atlanta community.
The reorganization includes a
(I) daytime, citywide group,
meeting in the Lenox Square-
Buckhead area; (2) Northwest-
Perimeter group (Sandy Spring, E.
Cobb, Marietta, and Dunwoody),
meeting in the Perimeter area; (3)
Northeast-Perimeter group,
meeting in the Northlake area; (4)
Young Professionals (age. in the
20s)—a new group currently in the
process of being chartered; (5)
Executive group, business and
professional women; (6) Paces
Silver, a non-programming, non-
fundraising group of women who
just want to be associated with
BBW Along with their dues they
will be asked to make a $10
donation as they will not be
approached during the year for
fund-raising projects.

classes for exceptional children
The Atlanta Bureau of Jewish
Education is accepting applica
tions for its Havanah program of
religious education for exception
al Jewish children who have
learning disabilities which make it
difficult for them to function
effectively in regular Sunday or
Hebrew school classes.
Havanah aims to provide these
students with varied and rich
Jewish experiences which will
bring greater understanding and
pride in Jewish customs and tradi
tions. and the self-assurance to
participate in Jewish ceremonies at
twwnanJMl in the synagogue.
TJia -progr^m -meets on Sundays

Academy. A special class in
Hebrew language is offered to
selected students on Wednesday

coordinators. The faculty, which is
knowledgeable in Judaica and
professionally experienced in
special education, is under the
