Dr. Mark E. Silverman of
Atlanta, a professor of
medicine at Emory University
and director of cardiology and
medical education at Piedmont
Hospital, has been installed as
the new president of the
Georgia Affiliate of the
American Heart Association.
Simon Bressier of N. Miami
Beach, formerly of Atlanta,
celebrated his 75th birthday on
Oct. 27 with members of the
Aventura Jewish Center. The
Oneg Shabbat at Friday evening
services, Oct. 27, and the kiddush
the following morning were
sponsored by the Bresslers, and
son-in-law, Dr. Harry Prystowsky
read the Haftorah on Saturday
morning.
The Bar Mitzva of Rodney Zell
of Atlanta will take place at 8:30
a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, at
Congregation Shearith Israel. A
congregational kiddush will
follow. Rodney is the son of Gloria
and Glenn Zell and the grandson
of Mrs. Ethel Wynne of
Bainbridge, Ga., and the late Louis
Wynne, and the late Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Zell of New York.

recently appointed to the board of
trustees of the Medical Center of

Epstein school students present ■ concert of Jewish music to the
residents of the Jewish home on Sukkot. The first and second
graders provided a dramatic and choral presentation.

chief of the hematology-oncology
section at the VA Medical Center,
has been certified as a diplomate in
hematology and internal medicine
and is a Fellow of the American
College of Physicians.

Elmo Ellis, WSB Radio vice
president and general manager,
has been named to the board of
directors of American Humanics
at Georgia State University.
American Humanics works with
voluntary youth organizations
throughout the United States to
train youth agency professionals.
The organization's local activities
are coordinated through Georgia
State University.
Ellis will also serve as celebrity
chairman for the 1980 Easter Seal
Telethon for the Georgia Easter
Seal Society, which will be held in
March.
An anthoiogy edited by Georgia
Tech literature professor Edith
Blickailver, “The Ethnic American
Woman: Problems, Protests,
Lifestyle,” has been named the best
non-fiction work of the year by the
Dixie Council of Authors and
Journalists. Letters, autobio
graphical studies, short stories,
and poems in the collection
highlight the wide spectrum of
problems and lifestyles of
American women. Sixteen works
by Jewish-American women are in
the anthology, including selections
by Atlantans Harriett Warshaw,
Enid Mescon, Eve Silver, Janet
Rechtman, Avril Sutin, Arlene G.
Peck, and Esta Seaton.

Beverly Aaron of Dunwoody
and Honey Workman of Atlanta
have been named to the One
Million Dollar Round Table of
Harry Norman, Realtors.
Aaron is the member of B’nai
B'rith, Hadassah, ORT, and has
been an active volunteer for the
women's division of the Atlanta
Jewish Federation.
Workman is active in B'nai
B’rith, Brandeis Women and ORT.
She currently serves on the board
of directors for the National
Council of Jewish Women.
Dr. G. Douglas Young, an
evangelical Christian scholar
working in Israel, is the first
theologian-in-residence being
sponsored for a U.S. visit by the
American Zionist Federation
(AZF).
Dr. Young, who will visit
several Protestant seminaries,
is past president of the
American Institute for Holy
Land Studies in Jerusalem, a
member of the Israel Interfaitb
Committee, and has been active
in promoting improved
relations between Christians
and Jews.
Shlomo and Debra Buchman of
Atlanta announce the birth of a
daughter, Carine Sara, on Oct. 15.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Kelin of Catskill, N. Y., and
Mrs. Shoshana Buchman of Tel
