AJCC offers adult classes
The committee for the Women’s
Plea for Soviet Jewry met recently
at the home of Rose Berman to
establish the goals of this year's
rally, which is scheduled for
Sunday, Dec. 9, from 3-5 p.m., at
the Temple.
Designed to focus attention on
the plight of dissidents, refusniks,
Jews, and activists who have
refused to accept conditions in
Russia, the rally will feature guest
speaker Dr. William Korey,
director of the B'nai B’rith
International Council. Former
presidential counsel Robert
Lipshutz will be honorary

features Oriental prints
The Atlanta Jewish Community
Center will sponsor an art
exhibition and sale of Oriental
graphics on two consecutive
Sundays in early November.
Die first showing will be held on
Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Zaban
Branch. Etchings, woodcuts, and
lithographs from 20th century
Oriental artists will be featured.
Art collector Anne Gosey will be
on hand to discuss each piece.
The second presentation will be
on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the AJCC/
Peachtree location.
Viewing for both exhibitions
will be from II a.m.-5 p.m. For

Atlanta Post No. 112
honors fallen soldiers
Atlanta Post No. 112, Jewish
War Veterans will honor departed
veterans on Veteran's Day,
Sunday, Nov. 11, by placing
American flags and markers on the
graves of fallen soldiers at
Greenwood and Crest l-awn
Cemeteries.
The Post has for 35 years
decorated the graves of
approximately 300 Jewish
veterans on both Veteran’s Day
and Memorial Day.
Members of the community who
want to arrange a Veteran’s Day

turned to both Jewish and non-
Jewish organizations in the
Atlanta community for solidarity
and involvement.
The convening committee is
composed of sisterhood members
Louise Habif, Annette Easton,
chairmen; Kay Kline, Eileen
Cohn, co-chairmen; Sue Berman,
secretary, and Vita Schulman,
treasurer.
The rally is open to the public.

time for this year’s campaign can

Dor Chai Hadassah
focuses on careers
Dor Chai Hadassah will meet at
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at the
Lake Louise Apartments, off
Henderson Mill Road.
Fran Grist, past chairperson of
Atlanta Chapter National
Organization of Women's
Employment Committee, will
speak on “Picture Your Potential.”
She is presently a fiscal
management officer of the Georgia
Department of Administrative
Services.

‘Lunch and learn’
at the AJCC
The Atlanta Jewish Community
Center will begin its fourth year of
“Taste of Talmud" luncheons at
noon, Thursday, Nov. 8, in the
AJCC/Peachtree Conference
Room.
Led by Rabbi Shlomo Illuming
of the Chabad-Center and
coordinated by David Dubin,
executive director of the AJCC,
the programs are geared to
businessmen, businesswomen, and
professionals.
Rabbi Bluming will discuss
“Israel and the Territories—To
Give or to Hold? -A Talmudic
Perspective."
A kosher lunch costing S3 a
person will precede the discussion.

The Temple Sisterhood
hosts Rep. Steinberg
The Temple Sisterhood will*
meet at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov.
12, at the Temple.
The guest speaker will be DeKalb

“The Jewish Woman...does her
vote count?"
A cream cheese and bagel

hosts Lou Davis
Bicentennial Post No. 976,
Jewish War Veterans will hold its
regular meeting at 11 a.m.,
Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Perimeter
Mall Community Room.
Lou Davis of WSB-TV will
discuss his assignments in Israel.
Elections of officers will also be
held. Members are requested to
bring any usable rummage for the
upcoming flea market. Prospective
members are invited to attend.

family-day program
Ahavath Achim Sisterhood will
hold a Jewish Family Living Day
Program from 10 a.m.-l p.m.,
Monday, Nov. 5, at the homes of
Phyllis Levine, Arlene Wildstein
and Ann Alperin.
The program will include a
musical slide presentation,
mother-daughter dialogue, and an
open discussion. A complimentary
luncheon will be served. For

Mizrachi women have
kickoff tea for Donor
American Mizrachi Women will
have its kickoff tea for its annual
Donor Dinner at 1 p.m., Monday,
Nov. 12, at Congregation Qr
VeShalom.
Mrs. S.R. Ichay will present the
D’var Torah.
Entertainment will include a
musical program by the Yeshiva
Hi-Lites and a fashion show by
Brenda Allens with models Liane
Levctan, Rita Levine, Janice Idov,
Bella Solnick, and Rose Tuchman.
Mrs. Maxine Marcus, program
chairperson, will present plans for
the Dec. 11 Donor which will
include an evening of opera.

Wednesdays, at the AJCC

Beth Shalom dedicates future site
Dedication of the future site of Congregation Beth Shalom's
synagogue took place before Sukkot services on Oct. 7. Participants
