AJCC has Nov. 23 jamboree
The Atlanta Jewish
Center will have a “Thanksgiving
Jamboree" for first through
seventh graders from 10 a.m.-3:30
p.m., Friday, Nov. 23, at the
Zaban Branch.
Activities include gym, arts and
crafts, Tflama, bowling and roller
skating. Admission is $6.

Etz Chaim Sisterhood " '
goes to the movies ORT Phonathon rings up support
Congregation Etz Chaim
Sisterhood will present the film,
“West Side Story’ at 8 p.m.,
Saturday, Dec. 1, at the North
Fulton Human Resource Center
on Grove Way in Roswell.
Admission is S10 a couple, S5 a
person. An international coffee
surprise and dessert will be served.

AJCC/Zaban offers
cultural arts classes
The Atlanta Jewish Community
Center will offer three new cultural
arts classes at its Zaban Branch
facility within the next two weeks.
A class in How to Use Your
Camera will be held Wednesdays
beginning Nov. 28. On Thursday,
Nov. 29, Jim Berry will begin a
class in stained-glass making, and
starting Wednesday, Dec. 5,
Genise Grad will lead a class in
Wheel Working and Ceramics.
All classes are taught by
professional artists, and most run
for eight weeks and meet in the
evenings.
The AJCC wants to expand its
program and invites suggestions
concerning morning and
afternoon sessions.

Jewish Home plans
bingo party, open house
The Jewish Home Volunteer
Corps will sponsor a pre-
Thanksgiving Day bingo party at
2:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, at
the Jewish Home.
Twelfth-grade Tikhon students
from Ahavath Achim Synagogue,
under the co-leadership of Amy
Arnold and Herman Schwarz,
sponsored an Oct. 29 bingo game
at the Home. The first two
Wednesday bingo games for
November were sponsored by
Congregation Shearith Israel
Sisterhood and the Jewish War
Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
Shoshanim Hadassah will
sponsor the final bingo game for
the month at 7:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, Nov. 28.
Scheduled for December bingo
games are the Temple Sisterhood,
7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5;
Aliyah Hadassah, 7:30 p.m., Dec.
12; and Pioneer Women Club I,
2:30 p.m., Dec. 26.
Also on tap for December is the
Jewish Home’s 28th annual open
house to be held from 2-5 p.m.,
Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Home.
Handmade crafts that the
residents and volunteers have been
preparing all year will be on sale.
In addition, jewelry, hand-painted
art, and baked goods will be
available. A $1 raffle for items
made by the residents will also be
held.

Joining Women's American ORT members from across the
country in an ORT Membership Phonathon on Sunday, Nov. 18,
are Atlanta region’s Mrs. Gail Golden (left), re-enrollment
chairperson, and Mrs. Nancy Schwartz, membership chairperson.
On the eve of ORTs centennial in 1980, members in 100 key cities
will give 100 minutes of their time, calling upon women to join the
organization’s efTort to provide vocational and technical education
to some 100,000 ORT students the world over.
Yeshiva High PTA
sponsors flea market
Yeshiva High School PTA will
sponsor its annual Flea Market
from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday, Nov.
18, at Beth Jacob Synagogue.
Items for sale include furniture,
housewares, small appliances,
bicycles, books, toys, records,
plants, and new merchandise.
Homemade kosher baked goods
will also be for sale.

AJCC/Zaban begins
Cub Scout den
Registration is now open for
Cub Scout Den No. 731, which
meets from 7-8 p.m., Wednesdays,
at the AJCC Zaban Branch.
Boys from third through fifth
grades are eligible to participate.
An afternoon den is also being
planned. Helene Harris and
Debbie Mande are the co-leaders.
Dr. Jacob Larkin is Scoutmaster.

Rep. Holtzman to speak at AJCC
Rep. Holtzman
N.Y. congresswoman Elizabeth
Holtzman, who returned last
Tuesday from a congressional
mission to Cambodia in behalf
of that country’s starving refugees,
will speak in Atlanta at 8:30 p.m.,
Monday, Nov. 19, at the Atlanta
Jewish Community Center's
Peachtree facility.
Her trip here, which is
sponsored by the National Council
of Jewish Women, will be her first
out-of-town speaking engagement
since her return from Cambodia
with a delegation of eight
congresswomen. Rep. Holtzman
had organized the group to try to
convince the government there to
allow an international delegation
to send food for Cambodia’s
starving children.
Holtzman is noted for her
efforts in human rights,
particularly in the fields of
women’s issues, aging, children,
and consumer rights. She was the
focus of national attention during
the Judiciary Committee’s
Watergate hearings when she
spoke out against abuses of power,
and was a leader in pressing for an
investigation of the Koreagate
scandal.
Holtzman, who is the founder
and chairwoman of the first
congresswomen’s caucus in the
history of Congress, will speak
primarily on women’s issues
during her Atlanta visit.
