JWVs visit Milledgeville veterans
The Temple Sinai Family
Evening for Israel Bonds will be
held Sunday evening, Dec. 2, at the
Temple Sinai social hall. A 6 p.m.
reception will be followed by
dinner at 7 p.m.
Toni and Joel Adler are the
chairpersons of the Host
Committee and the dinner
chairpersons are Amy and Marvin
Singer. The president of the
congregation, Jan Epstein, is the
honorary chairwoman.
Guests are invited to tour the
Negev via the new film, “The Price
of Peace" starring Ed Asner.
The guest speaker will be Dr.
Samuel Rolbant, Israeli author,
journalist and lecturer. Dr.
Rolbant, who was born in China,
received his doctorate at the
London School of Economics. In
his student days he edited a Zionist

The Golda Meir Chapter,
Pioneer Women will host an Oneg
Shabbat at 1:30 p.m., Saturday,
Dec. I, at the home of Mrs.
Bernard (Ruth) Gross, 1407
Biltmore Drive.
Mrs. Hazel Karp, librarian at
the Hebrew Academy since 1972,
will present a book review of
“When Memory Comes" by Saul
Friedlander. Mrs. Karp was the
first person to teach a course on
Holocaust literature at the Atlanta
High School of Jewish Studies.
She was president of the Atlanta
Chapter of Hadassah from 1968-
70.
Co-hostesses for the Oneg
Shabbat are Gertrude Krick, Rose
Hershey, Yetta Shuman, Ethel
Cenker and Ethel Warner.

AJCC/Zaban plans
workshops for women
The first Friday of each month is
set aside as a special program
morning for women at the AJCC
Zaban Branch.
Mike Lainoff, assistant
executive director, will conduct a
workshop on Basic Home Repairs
on Friday morning, Dec. 7.
Participants are encouraged to
bring the item, or a good
description of the item, that needs
repair.
These free programs are open to
the public. Coffee and bagels are
served at 9:15 a.m., with the
workshops beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Cobb Branch children
make welcome baskets
The children of members of the
Cobb Branch of the National
Council of Jewish Women will
make welcome baskets for Soviet
Jews who will be arriving in
Atlanta this month from 1:30-4:30
p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, at the
Parkaire Recreation Room, upper
mall level. >
The event is in honor of the
International Year of the Child.
All children are welcome to attend.
Anyone interested in helping to
create these baskets can contact

Temple Sinai reads
for Dysautonomia
A Readathon for Dysautonomia
is now underway at Temple Sinai.
Sponsored by the Temple Sinai
library and social action
committees, the Readathon
encourages all Temple Sinai
children and adults to read books
and to obtain paying sponsors,
with the money going to the
Dysautonomia Foundation.
The Readathon. which also
recognizes Jewish Book Month,
will run through Jan. 27. Titles
must match those in the Temple
Sinai inventory.
Additional information may be

library committee, Susan Golden,
Ann Schoenberg, and Barbara
Katinsky, or the synagogue office,

(J.O.Y.), the teenage youth group
at Temple Sinai, will be setting up
the Bond dinner and participating
in various aspects.

North Suburban ORT
opens gift-wrapping booth
North Suburban ORT will
sponsor its annual holiday gift-
wrapping booth from Dec. 2-24 at
Perimeter Mall.
Boxes and a choice of wrapping
paper will be available at the
booth, which will be located in the
lower level main aisle near the
Community Room.
Mrs. Toni Rose is chairwoman
of the event, and Mrs/ Fran
Schneider is coordinator. Maxine
Seligman is chapter president.

AJCC offers
specialized workshops
The Atlanta Jewish Community
Center will offer three specialized
workshops beginning the first
week in December.
A one-day workshop teaching
cooks how to prepare foods, such
as baklava and Greek pastries that
require working with filo dough,
will be held in a private kosher
home on Sunday. Dec. 2.
A two-session workshop for
single individuals. “An Intelligent
Person’s Guide to Finding Loving
Relationships,” will be offered at 7
p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4 and 11, at
the Zaban Branch.

Jewish War Veterans Posts Nos.
112, 976 and 1980 will visit the
Georgia State Veterans Hospital in
Milledgeville, Ga., at I p.m.,
Sunday, Dec. 9.
The group, to be joined by Posts
in South Carolina, will entertain
veterans in the two department
wards that are named in honor of
the Department of Georgia Jewish
War Veterans. Gift packages that
include fruits, stationery, candies,
socks and other useful items will be
distributed.

this 35-year-old program. For
