Mr. and Mrs. I.ouis Rosenbaum
of Atlanta will celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary on Dec. 22.
Mrs. Rosenbaum is the former
Miss Sarah Pazol. They were
married by Rabbi Harry H
Epstein at the Jewish Woman’s
Club in Atlanta.
The Rosenbaums will be
honored by their children and
grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs.
Aaron Buchsbaum, Herbert,
Lauren, Susan, and Elizabeth, of
Savannah, Mr. and Mrs. Sam
Draluck, Ronny, Merrill,
Jonathan, and Mr. and Mrs.
Jonathan Pine of Atlanta.

San Francisco Mayor Dianne
Feinstein, who was appointed to
the post by fellow supervisors in
November 1978 after the
assassination of Mayor George
Moscone and Supervisor Harvey
Milk by ex-supervisor Dan White,
defeated Supervisor Quentin
Kopp in a runoff election on
Tuesday. She is the first woman to
be elected mayor of San Francisco.

Scott Morrell, son of Terri
(Morgan) and Henry Morrell of
Maitland, Fla., will play in the
Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn.,
on Dec. 22 when his Tulane
University football club takes on
Penn State in the nationally
televised event. Scott is the starting
offensive tackle for the Tulane
team.
The grandson of Mr. and Mrs.
Sol Morgan and the great-
grandson of Mrs. Nessie Rich, all
of Atlanta. Scott is in his junior
year at Tulane, which he attends
on a full athletic scholarship He
has lettered in varsity football
since his freshman year.
Scott, a premedical student
majoring in anthropology who
would like to specialize in sports
orthopedics, is active in a number
of campus activities. He was
elected to Phi Eta Sigma during his
freshman year and currently serves
as its president, and is house
manager of Kappa Sigma Social
Fraternity for 1979-80.
Scott was recently chosen for
membership in Omicron Delta
Kappa, a national academic and
leadership honor society. He was
cited for his contribution to the
university through football as well
as his ranking among the top third
of the junior class.
Scott’s parents and sisters, Lisa,
a student at Stephens College, and
Ann, a oJnth-grade cheerleader at
Maitland Junior High, will be on
hand to cheer him on in person.

Ms. Terry Franco of Atlanta,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Hoffman, has completed the
requirements of her master’s
degree in music at the Cleveland
Institute of Music, Case Western
Reserve University in Cleveland,
Ohio. After spending the winter
vacation in Atlanta, she will be
employed as co-principal of the
viola section of the Shreveport
Symphony in Shreveport, La.
Haskell Toporek has been
elected president of the
Augusta Jewish Community
Center for 1980. Toporek is
well-known in the Augusta
community for his civic work
with the Easter Seals Society,
the American Cancer Society,
the University Hospital 100
Club, as well as many other
organizations. He is president
of Ranger Manufacturing Co.
Others serving on the
executive committee include
Ronald Altman and Roland
Haskins, vice presidents;
Harold Entin, treasurer, and
Sandy Lewis, secretary.

When the 20-foot menorah was
lighted this week in Washington’s
Lafayette Park across from the
White House, it was nine-year-old
Jay Eizens tat who said the
blessings. His brother Brian lit one
of the candles. The boys, sons of
Stuart and Fran Eizenstat.

“well done" from President Carter
who attended the Hanuka
ceremony.
Patty and Marty Nathan of
Atlanta announce, the birth of a
son, Eric Brian, on Oct. 19.

Dr. Joseph Patterson, professor
of pediatrics at Emory University
School of Medicine and chief
physician of the Henrietta
Egleston Hospital for Children is
currently in Israel as the American
Jewish Committee’s Atlanta
Chapter delegate to the Jewish
Academicians Seminar.
The seminar in Israel, under the
direction of Yehuda Rosenman,
AJC’s director for Jewish
Communal Affairs, was begun in
1970 to familiarize university
faculty with th political, religious,
social, and cultural aspects of life
in Israel. In addition, the seminar
encourages participation in Jewish
educational programs and
communal life upon their return to
university campuses.

Ben Walker, director of
education of Temple Sinai, and
Richard Becker, director of
education of the Temple, will
attend the 25th anniversary
convention of the National
Association of Temple Educators
(NATE) on Dec. 23-27 in
Washington, D.C. The theme for
the convention is, “The Changing
Role of the Educator: Past,
Present, Future.”
Walker is a board member of
NATE, chairman of the Israel
committee and a member of the
curriculum award committee.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shapiro
of Atlanta celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary jsn Dec. 8.
Rabbi Harry H. Epstein and the
late Rabbi Tobias Geffen
performed their marriage
ceremony at Cohen's Boarding
House on Capitol Avenue in 1929.
Their children are Marvin
Shapiro, Patricia Ann Murphy
and the late Saundra Walker. The
Shapiros have four grandchildren.
Allison and Lauren Walker, Jared
Shapiro and Marshall Murphy.
Mrs. Shapiro is the former
Bertha Nussbaum.
Allan J. Tanenbaum of
Atlanta, formerly of Savan
nah, was recently elected clerk
of the Assembly of Young
Lawyer Affiliates of the
American Bar Association's
120,000-member Young
Lawyer’s Division. He is slated
to become assembly speaker
next year.
A graduate of the University
of Pennsylvania Wharton
School of Finance and the
University of Virginia Law
School, Tanenbaum has been
active in both national and
local organizations.
He is managing director of
the I.awyer Reference Service
of Atlanta, Inc., a non-profit
organization providing law
referral and information service
to the metropolitan Atlanta
area, and a partner with the
Atlanta law firm of Frankel,
Hardwick, Tanenbaum, Fink &
Clark, P.C.
The sixth grade class of Mrs.
F.lana Weiselman of Or VeShalom
Synagogue entertained the
residents bf the Jewish Home with
a Hanuka party and BingO on
Sunday, Dec. 16.

Myron Golub (right), administrator of the Jewish Tower,
accepts a certificate in appreciation for his year's service from
Herbert Cohen, vice president, at the first year anniversary party of
the Jewish Tower on Nov. 20.
Residents, under the leadership of Ann Tannenbaum and
Sophia Hite, hosted the celebration. Guest speakers included
Meyer Balser, president, Cohen, and Max Rittenbaum, president
of the Atlanta Jewish Federation. Entertainment was provided by
Richard Siegel, Ben l.andy and residents.
