May 4, people of all ages from throughout metro politan Atlanta will participate in the 1980 Walk-a-Thon in support of Yehud, Atlanta's Project Renewal sister community in Israel Jack Hillman, chairman, said that the Walk-a-Thon will be held in conjunction with the fourth annual national UJA Walk-a- Thon in which more than 200 communities are expected to take, part. National Walk-a-Thon officials report that more than two miBion ‘ Jewish people will join in the demonstration of solidarity to express their support for Israel and their total commitment to meeting the needs of worldwide Jewry. In Atlanta, the walk will begin at the Atlanta Jewish Community Center, proceed north on Peachtree to Phipps Plaza, then return to the AJCC via the same route. The 10 mile route will have 10 check points and will be carefully supervised by volunteers as well as the Atlanta Police. The event is open to all ages, individuals as well as groups from synagogues, religious schools and other organizations. In advance of the event, participants will secure sponsors to underwrite their efforts on the number of miles walked, the Project Renewed shows progress c JERUSALEM—Twenty-seven rabbis from commnnhios throughout the United States, representing Orthodox, Conservative and Reform congregations, have ended their 11-day mission to Israel with praise for the “significant progress’* of Project Renewal programs to upgrade the quality of life among immigrants in the nation’s distressed urban neighborhoods. Rabbi Norman Patz of Cedar Grove, New Jersey, chairman of the Fourth Annual Rabbinic Community Leadership Mission sponsored by the United Jewish Appeal said, “We are coming away convinced that the results of Project Renewal will be more meaningful and of more value to the residents of Israel's declining neighborhoods than any previous effort to address their urgent social economic, and cultural problems. The significant progress made toward implementation of Project Renewal affirms the active involvement of the American Jewish community in its sponsors. Walkers are advised to dress comfortably. Beverages, fruit and other refreshments, donated by local benefactors, will be provided as well as first-aid facilities. Official Walk-a-Thon cars will be on hand to transport cannot complete the walk.'
