Family Outreach Center to begin Sept. 19 Family Outreach Center, established for the prevention of child abuse and neglect, has a limited number of openings for new volunteer trainees Sessions will begin Sept. 19 and run for 12 weeks on Monday mornings from 9 am.-noon. Content of the training course will include an overview of child abuse and neglect, communication skills, crisis intervention, family dynamics and values clarification. The program is co-sponsored by the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services and the National Council of Jewish Women, Atlanta Section. Volunteers may be involved in services such as a telephone hotline, outreach work with individual families, a speaker’s bureau, an elementary school puppet show, an after-school program for children of client families, and parent education and support groups.
