The Bat Mitzva of Elana Harris
of Atlanta will take place at 10:30
a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Temple
Sinai. A congregational kiddush
will follow.
Elana is the daughter of Linda
and Stan Harris. She is the
granddaughter of Mrs. Hannah
Franklin of Buffalo, N.Y., and
Mrs. Louis Rosenberg of Atlanta.
Elana will have a Bat Mitzva by
proxy for Faina Fradkin of the
Soviet Union.
Dr. David Frolich of Macon (right) accepts an award from Jack
Freedman, outgoing regional chairman of the southeast region of
the United Jewish Appeal. Frolich accepted the award on behalf of
his community for its exceptional participation in the UJA
overseas study mission program.

Fierman of Atlanta will take
place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 17, at The Temple. A
congregational kiddush will
follow.
Lisa is the daughter of Ruth
Fierman and Martin Fierman.
She is the granddaughter of
Claire Rappaport and Frances
Fierman, both of Atlanta.
The Bat Mitzva of Jennifer Lee
Strada of Atlanta will take place at
10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at
Temple Sinai. A congregational
kiddush will follow.
Jennifer is the daughter of
Berylann and Al Strada. She is the
granddaughter of Albert D. Strada
of Clifton, N.J., the late Mrs.
Mildred Strada, and the late Mr.
and Mrs. Jacob J. Robbins of
Fargo, N.D.
Jennifer will have a Bat Mitzva
by proxy for Pavla Run, daughter
of Boris and Gedi Kun of Moscow.
Pavla is the granddaughter of Fani
Sholomon of Jerusalem.

Elissa was given the Hebrew
name Aliza Channah
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard W. Cohen
of Atlanta were among those who
presented a gift to the new Ivan F.
and Seema Boesky Family Library
of The Jewish Theological
Seminary of America. The
Cohen’s donation was made public
at the dedication marking the
opening of the new multi-million
dollar complex.

Temple Sinai administrator Enid
Kam of Atlanta has recently
returned from Houston after
attending a convention of the
National Association of Temple
Administrators and the National
Biennial of the Union of American
Hebrew Congregations (UAHC),
the parent body of Reform
Judaism.
Mrs. Kam was a discussion
leader on the theme of Temple
dues.
Also attending as delegates from
Temple Sinai were Ted Frankel,
president; Jan Epstein, vice
president of the UAHC southeast
council; Arthur Heyman, member
of the national board of the
Association of Reform Zionists of
America; Gary Metzel, member of
the UAHC national board; Rabbi
Philip Kranz; Milton Deitch; Sara
Deitch, Howard Fagin, Sidelle
Frankel, Elsye Heyman, Jackie
Metzel and Fran Zuspan.
Atlantan Mrs. Ethel Myers
celebrated her 104th birthday
on Dec. I. Mrs. Myers, the
oldest resident of the Jewish
Home celebrated the event with
family member, other residents
and staff of the Home.
Mrs. Myers says that she
doesn’t feel tha told and there
are many loved ones that care
about her and that makes life
worth living
Atlanta artist and author,
Robyn Freedman Spizman will
appear on WXIA-li Alive’s
Noonday during the month. She
will demonstrate a series of
creative crafts for television
viewers once a week.
In Addition, one o# Robyn's
works of art has been added to the
permanent art collection at The
Henrietta Egleston Hospital for
Children. The soft sculpture wall
hanging is a whimsical array of
fantasy characters and is
permanently on display in the
main lobby of the new wing. The
work is titled “To Catch A Falling
Star.”
Cast members for the Broadway South Production of “Once

The play, written by Paul Diamond and produced by Rose
Kessler, will be presented on Dec. 16-18, at the Unitarian
Uni venal 1st Congregation of Atlanta, 1911 (Tiff Valley Way.
The Bal Mitzva of Karyn
Fink of Atlanta will take place
at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at
Temple Emanu-EI. A congre
gational kiddush will follow
Karyn is the daughter of
Sharyn Fink and B. Stanley
Fink She is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Levinson of Savannah, and
Jack Fink and the late Ruth
Fink, both of Augusta.
Jcrre Friedman, executive
director of the Ahavath Achim
Synagogue, has been selected as
chairman of the Atlanta
Association of Synagogue
administrators. Mark Jacobson,
executive director of The Temple,
will continue as secretary.
The association brings
administrators and executive
directors of the synagogues
together to discuss maintenance,
financial and administrative
matters.
The Bar Mitzva of David
Seidel of Atlanta will take
place at 8:30 a.m. Saturday,
Dec. 17, at Shearith Israel
Synagogue. A congregational
kiddush will follow.
David is the son of Barry and
Rona Seidel. He is the
grandson of Mrs. Bertha Seidel
of Surfside, Fla., and the late
Max Seidel and the late Albert
and Lillian Leichter.
David will have a proxy Bar
Mitzva for Misha Smeliansky
of Moscow.
Dr. Philip Newman, an associate
in the department of ophthalmology
at Emory University, recently taught
a course on “Ocular Risks of
Sexually Transmitted Diseases,"
at the American Academy of
Ophthalmology meeting in Chicago.
He and his family are members of
Congregation Shearith Israel.
